In comparison to what? Shotguns? Lancer and Hammy will beat shotguns at any range but close. Retro will beat a shotgun at any range but point-blank. With the stopping power they added in Gears 3, you can slow roadie runners to a crawl with rifle fire. And if you're good enough to land consistent headshots with a Lancer and hit your active reloads, you will dominate any match. Just shoot people from a distance, then chainsaw them if they get too close. Rifles are so powerful in Gears 3 that they created a new playlist which removed the stopping power and active reload damage bonuses to make shotguns more viable (it also removed the Retro and Sawed-Off as starting weapons, making it my playlist of choice).

I don't have a problem with you disliking Gears. But you're disliking it for the wrong reasons. :p

He's disliking it because it sucks ass and even Cliffy B. said in an interview it was designed for mentally handicapped people, but then all the wannabe thugs adopted it for the gore and Cole so they worked on the netcoding to compensate for that.

EDIT: Nah but Gears 3 is "ok", it's a high quality game for sure. It's not for everyone, including me. The graphics and gore are really good. I don't think I've ever seen a game with more satisfying gore, which is what I think attracts all the ghetto idiots. But graphics and gore aren't enough to make me want to play it competitively or casually like I do Halo, but it's not a competitive skill-based game at all because of lag and host advantage. Gears 1 and 2 were completely unplayable it was so bad, only part 3 they fixed a decent portion of that (or hid it) and it's only because they got dedicated servers (which is essential for games in this generation and future generations). Yet it took them how many years to even try and fix it? Not until part 3!

A lot of the weapons are just straight up annoying and not fun to use at all, IMO. Some are really cool, but a good portion are not. Personally, I get bored to death after 2 matches...and the Gears 3 campaign I thought was incredibly boring as well. That's a fair and unbiased opinion on Gears with facts about it's technical lag issues that the series is known for. Anyone who denies that is full of shyte, as my English friends would say. You also can't deny the majority of the people who play it are retarded assholes... but that's expected with online games, but it's out of hand in Gears, just way too many.

I've seen enough Gears to never want to see it again. So I wish Epic Games would get it on with the "real game", Unreal Tournament 4 for PC... and quit piss fartin' around with Gears of War. It's so played out.

I think the Gears campaigns are great, but the multiplayer is absolute bull. Too many shotguns....

My local Gamestop is having a midnight launch, and they rarely do it. Last one was for Halo 4.

My god this thread's atrocious. Starship Ghost, count to 10 and breath.

I could never get the hang of gears multiplayer. Maybe it was all the times I'd empty a clip into someone only to be instakilled by a chainsaw and the guy i was shooting at ended up just fine. Played all the campaigns though. Which is why I won't be getting judgement. Enough of the backstory of emergence day has already been revealed in the 3 prior games and the books that I'd get nothing out of experiencing it via Baird.

If I buy this, it will just be for the campaign. I still like the first Gears of War campaign the best because it was darker, scarier, and all of the crucial mysteries of the storyline were not answered quickly to increase the importance of the new characters (being more accurate to the books is not a good reason to kill off Dom).

The campaign wasn't as good as the previous games, imo. Instead of trying to wipe the locust out forever and save Sera, you're just trying to kill one Locust. Declassified missions add a nice twist, but I didn't care for the smart spawn system. There are times I would die against a couple Maulers (which are super OP in Judgement), then reload the checkpoint and get Bloodmounts instead (much easier). It sort of took away from the story. Teammate AI is possibly the worst, yet. They hang back and seem to not shoot at enemies unless attacked first. And the game randomly picks one of them to pick you up if you go DBNO, so the nearest isn't always the one the comes to your rescue. Also, if a teammate goes down before you, they will try to get them regardless of how close you are. I went down (because of those damn maulers) after trying to pick up two other teammates, and the third was just running at them, only to dive back to avoid a mauler, repeating this 3 or 4 times while I was right next to her until I bled out.

So, if you love Gears campaign, go ahead and get it, but don't expect an epic story comparable to the earlier games in the series and make sure to have some friends to play with.

It looks like a good game, especially since i'm sure all the bugs and glitches have been mostly smoothed out by now. However, I will not buying it. I love gears of war, but the franchise ended for me when you stabbed the queen beetch in the heart. Always had fun in the multiplayer, even through all the bugs and lag. I'm just going to stick with Halo though and wait for GTA 5 to be released :)

lol, anything with Gears is atrocious. I breathe in through the nostrils and out through the mouth, it's the proper way to breathe and how the human body is designed. It's also "good to keep the yang up".

Eddie Murphy: "Ain't nothin' wrong with my yang."

So, Execution makes this game a lot better (this is coming from someone who never much cared for Execution in past games). Too bad the title update didn't fix any of the gameplay problems. But I'm kind of doubting they will change any of the things that make this game so frustrating. The newest annoyance is being able to detonate smoke grenades while DBNO, which is basically the equivalent of Armor Lock from Reach... I guess they don't pay attention to what makes people hate other games when they add nooby things to theirs.
