    INTERSECT

    Description

Intersect is a multi-leveled medium-small semi-symmetrical walkway map. In layman's terms, it's like Lockout (Halo 2) or Guardian (Halo 3).

Intersect consists of 4 bases (2 main and 2 secondary) and a middle platform all connected by a series of railed walkways. These bases are set up in a figure-8 pattern, wherein each main base is connected to the middle and 1 secondary base. While the layout and weapons are set up symmetrically like this to promote balanced gameplay, the bases are not symmetrical, as to promote a distinct difference and advantage for each main base.

Red base is set up to be more easily fortifiable, yet it's secondary base (yellow) is a lot more exposed. Adversely, blue base is a lot more exposed, yet it's secondary base (green) is more easily fortifiable.

To further this setup, red base is given a Sniper Rifle, and blue base is given a shotgun. Due to the abundant corners and tight nature of red base, a shotgun is much more effective against this base than it would be against an open base like blue. Adversely, due to the longer lines of sight and openness of blue base, a sniper is much more effective against it than it would be against red base. Also, with the secondary bases having an opposite design from the main ones, a fallback is created, so that each team will be able to utilize their secondary base should the opposite team gain control of their power weapon.

This setup creates an interesting dynamic that really shines during Team Slayer games, due to the distinct advantage of each base's structure type and given weapon. Because of this intricate design pattern, Halo veterans will find themselves developing an interesting metagame on this map to fit their specific playstyle.

All of these things add up to make a map that can support diverse types of gameplay while still maintaining a solid balance. Whether you're a casual player, a competitive player; a close quarters kind of guy, or a rifle aficionado, Intersect has something to meet your gameplay desires.

The red base is big. Is it open behind the sniper spawn? Also that sniper position is pretty advantageous. How easy is it to push the sniper out of that hole?

Not hard. I've actually found it easier to defend blue base than red base. The 2 antennas on red base can be used to jump up to the top from the middle, making staying up there really hard (like with snipe tower on Lockout) - especially since blue base has the shotgun spawn.
