Millenium Falcon

    A to scale Millenium Falcon map with the actual blueprints of the falcon used as a reference. 4 banshees parked out side for space combat as well as a great view of the falcon. the falcon is docked to a fuel depot that cannot be entered. great map for 2-6 FFA.

    please let me know what you think. I would have put more decorations inside but reached my budget limit. if you want to play it with me just add me.
    *UPDATE*
    -lights have been added to the interior.
    -various structure pieces have been changed on the falcon to free up some of the budget.
    -KOTH support.
    - floor z fighting has been fixed. (let me know if otherwise)
    - more grav lifts have been added to the back of the falcon to be more like the real thing.
    - the interior of the falcon is now alot lighter.

    This is just weird. I was thinking earlier today how cool it would be to forge an accurate millennium falcon. Looks great.

    EDIT: Ok, I checked out the map. It has some Z-Fighting issues on some flooring and ceiling, which you really should fix. Z-Fighting should never happen in a forge map and it is always fixable. The interior doesn't look bad how it's designed and I wouldn't know how to get better looking floors, but there is no dynamic lighting which makes it look really blah. Halo 4 maps cannot be forged like previous Halos due to the lighting system, in my opinion if you want it to look good.

    You should make some adjustments for the interior to look better. It would probably not make a difference putting windows on certain sides as not enough light would shine through, if any at all depending on the location of the Falcon. So I would suggest deleting some items to increase your budget to use 4 lights inside of the Falcon (they are a whopping $250 each). For example, you don't really need 3 tanks especially if they aren't drive-able as they are only an aesethetic in this map.

    If you don't use dynamic lighting for an enclosed map, you need artificial gadget lights or it just looks terrible. It's mostly due to the color of the forge pieces and the lighting system, they turn a really ugly color. White lights would look best IMO, but anything is better than nothing. There are certain ways you could use the white lights on the ceilings in strategic locations to actually look like lights. Aesthetically, it would make the interior of the Falcon look much better. But again, this is just my opinion but I am sure others feel the same way about enclosed maps and dynamic lighting in Halo 4.

    TIP FOR FIXING Z-FIGHTING: If you haven't noticed, pieces tend to slightly move in position when saving, exiting, and then reloading the map. If you don't want a piece to move all you have to do is hold it while you save and exit. Then the next time you reload the map, that piece you were holding while you saved will be in the exact precise position. Hope this all helps.

    Thanks for the advise. I did notice the floors moving but i did not know how to fix them i found myself remaking the floor over and over again. i was completely unaware of the z fighting term thanks alot for that advise. second i will be deleting the tanks today and adding some lights to the map because i completely agree with you about the interior. i will be reuploading it hopefully tonight with all the fixes that you pointed out. thanks alot for the help.

    No problem my friend. It looks really nice though and I've been looking for maps just like this to use for a Banshee Dogfight gametype. It kinda sucks you have to delete the tanks... I'm not sure what else you could delete that wouldn't take away from the map.

    One tip for lights is if you use the capture plates (I think that's what its called) and turn them upside down on the ceiling you can stick a white light in the center of it, sticking out halfway or more...and it looks like a real light on the ceiling. Or sometimes they look good in combination with the Terminal Lights (think that's the name) in the Dominion section. Or if you can think of something better that would be good too.

    Those are the only two light tricks I have though. White lights seem to look the best in my opinion when trying to make real-looking lights. It's up to you though, experiment. Maybe 2 white and 2 other colors... I would definitely use a couple whites though at least.

    all the the problems there were should be fixed now and i was even able to keep the 3 tanks. i deleted alot of the pieces from the decoration palate seeing as there $50 a pop and replaced them with inclines and building blocks which saved me almost $2000. also KOTH hills spawn in space requiring a banshee to capture them so i thought that wound be good for dog fights. anyways i am thinking about adding a juicy special effect but im not %100 on it let me know what you think.

    instead of using white lights, try flagging the roof pieces and perhaps others to let naturall ight in.

    spawn time = between 1 & 10
    place at start = No

    before rendering lighting in forge, you'll see it how it's going to be in game. LaForge in my sig has this trick to light up the corridors.

    I heard that trick doesn't work for people who join the game after it started? Either way it's a cool trick and he should do it anyway for more light. But white lights in addition couldn't hurt.

    PantherineofGod: I don't know about adding special effects... they usually don't look good. Sometimes in Flood maps they can be beneficial to make the map dark and gloomy for indoor creepyness and some other instances. But for this map I personally wouldn't use them, but it's your call.

    right, but if budget is a concern, that extra $250 in exchange for deleting a light is often attractive...

    as for lighting trick not working for those who join mid-match, their loss! Shoulda show'd up on time! LOL

    well, I love lights...and dynamic lighting. I don't think budget is too much of a concern he has everything he needs mostly...seems like he made a lot of improvements too. I would like to see the dynamic lighting spawn trick though. I forgot about it. All he has to do is figure out the best places and pieces on the roof to remove to make it look good.

    Hey guys thanks for the help. but i am having an issue with some of the roof of the falcon not spawning. is there a limit for the amount of objects that can spawn at once? the lighting trick works and looks great but like i said if half the roof doesnt spawn then thats not worth it. any suggestions would be great.

    Solved the tanks were preventing them from spawning in map is done reuploading in a little bit.

    that was going to be my suggestion, as something similar happened on my level when using a turret on or near a delay-spawned ceiling. someone here helped me figure out that was the solution...

    when I get a moment I'll DL and take a look

    oh awesome! I love the idea of recreating star wars locations etc. into playable maps. I have even thought about picking a SWBF location to recreate, but hadn't decided yet. I would be willing to help and give advice where needed.

    hmm... IDK, I can't say I care for that one in the video. Looks very plain. I'm sure it could be done better. oh well.
