    Greetings fellow Forgehub Members, and welcome to my latest map, Carcass. I worked on this map for about 20 hours and it came out really well. I usually make larger maps, but this time around I decided to go for a smaller one. Before playtesting, I was kind of dissapointed in this map and thought the gameplay wouldn't be that great. But when I got a group together and played it I was very surprised at how well it played. It was probably one of the most fun custom games I've ever played.

    Anyway, Carcass is a 3 leveled, symmetrical map designed for Slayer, Koth, Assault, and CTF. Imo, it plays best with slayer and koth, but that's just me. The hills ended up fitting the interiors of the stairwell and both the top and middle of the bases perfectly, it makes it seem like Bungie themselves made the map.

    UPDATES:

    I've made a few updates since the release of this map, slight as they may be. I really just wanted to reduce the powerful weapon set, but I also went back and interlocked the weapon holders that hold up the firebombs, and I used teleporter nodes to create little lights in the stairwells and on the bomb/flag plants.


    Weapon Set (Updated):

    The weapons and grenades on the map now have decently long respawn times, so don't worry about it turning into a shotgun fest or a nade fest.

    Mauler: 2x - 60 second respawn
    Assault Rifle: 2x - 45 second respawn
    Battle Rifle: 4x - 45 second respawn
    Carbine: 4x - 45 second respawn
    Smg: 2x - 45 second respawn
    Spiker: 2x - 45 second respawn
    Shotgun: 2x - 90 second respawn
    Fuel Rod: 1x - 120 second respawn
    Sentinel Beam: 2x - 60 second respawn
    Plasma Grenade: 4x - 45 second respawn
    Frag Grenade: 4x - 30 second respawn
    Spike Grenade: 4x - 45 second respawn

    Each side is its own base with 3 different levels.

    There's the ground floor. You can either go right up the middle of those corner walls or take a stroll around the outside. The weapon holder on the wall you see is now interlocked with it. The paths around the outside are merged for a nice, smooth curve ending at the stairwell.

    Here's the stairwell. On the Double box that you see is used as the ceiling for the stairwell, I have interlocked a teleporter node to create a small light.

    Once you go up the stairs, you'll find yourself on the 1st floor of a base. It's basically a rectangle with walls and a ceiling and three exits (four if you count the stairs you just came up). There's two exits on either side of you and one in front.

    This is what you would see as you emerge from a side exit.

    Here's the catwalk that you will walk onto. It eventually dead ends a little bit past where those walls are.

    Behind those corner walls you will find goodies, but you'll also find propane tanks.

    So don't let anyone see you go in there... A cool thing about the propane tanks is that if you detonate the propane tanks on your side, the ones on the opposite side explode too. Makes for some funny kills.

    Back inside the base, on either side of the staircase are mancannons leading onto the 2nd floor.

    You'll wind up here if you decide to venture up one of 'em.

    This is where your flag and bomb spawns will be. I've gone back and also interlocked teleporter nodes right above the Bomb/Flag spawns. If you're a forger (which, undoubtably, most of you are) you know how uncooperative those bloody boxes can be. Itaque, it is extremely satisfying to plant a bomb on one's face and blow it to Hell. (vv Check out my sig to quench your thirst for box blood)

    You can jump off the side of the base onto some stepping stones made of pallets.

    These pallets snake around the entire map from the top of one base to the next. While jumping on the pallets, they can fall off the teleporters they're on so you have to be careful. Or if you're a Pr0 JuMp3r, you can make them fall off as you make your way on purpose. This can stop people from following you for a while and you rain down wooden danger on the players below. People have been unlucky enough to be standing underneath a falling pallet a few times..hehe.

    Here's an overview of the ground level. The walls on the ground floor are banked into a hemispherical shape. Those boxes are able to be crouch-walked through.

    really nice, well built but one this is that i would take some of the power weapons off so the map is not too over powered

    I agree that it does have a lot of power weapons. My personal weapon set will never appeal to every one, so I just gave it abundant weapon set. People can adjust it to their liking if they want to. Thanks for the great reviews so far guys, I'm glad you like it!

    this looks amazing! seriously, this is one of the best i have seen lately. the design looks perfect and flawless. the interlocking and other construction also looks great. the gameplay looks incredible. what more does one need in a map? nothing, i tell you.

    Oh yes. This looks nice. It shows lots of promise. I like the use of the pallets. Innovative, bro. I'm no fan of boxes merged with the ground, as that just looks kinda unclean to me, but as per the playability it adds, I'm sure it's worth it in this map.

    Totally a side note: Nice sig. I just dumb down a screenshot and slap the name in a funky font on mine, which is more than a lot of people do, but nothing to yours. I like that a lot, bro.

    Okay, map looks really good. Very unique. A different weapon style with the fuel rod and sentinel beam. I like the use of that single boxs jutting out on an angle.
    But please never refer to us as "Forgehubians", it sounds terrible.

    Very nice map !!! I especially liked the top area where you get the shotgun. This map is very unique and the layout from top to bottom works very well for an arena style map. I also liked how you could jump from palate to palate to navigate the map. Great map ... 8.5/10

    Many of the design elements of this map, and the aesthetics look really interesting. I'm going to download and try it out soon.
