Very much excited too. I didn't get Dawnguard or Hearthfire because I knew they'd be underwhelming (like they were) but I have a feeling this is the one. I mean, there's another fuggin Dragonborn! Awesome shits.
Dawnguard was definitely not underwhelming. I went into it with low expectations, too, and was completely blown away. I didn't buy Hearthfire, though, because I'm on PC and that entire DLC was based on mods that already existed for free...
I suppose that Dawnguard was worth the money, and I'm glad that Bethesda released DLCs in smaller scope before they tackled something much larger(you know, testing the waters, bug fixes, pissing off the PS3 crowd, etc..). Can you imagine what would potentially happen if they went balls out at the beginning? That would have been hell.
So the other day I was talking about Skyrim and Oblivion with a friend of mine and I came to a very surprising realization. I find that Skyrim has much less replay value than Oblivion. The main reason for this is simply because of the main story of it. In Oblivion, you wake up in a prison cell at the beginning and your character has absolutely no history. Your character is literally just an ordinary person who can do as they please. You don't have to do the main story, you don't have to live up to anything, you don't have to be rich or famous... But in Skyrim you are the Dovahkiin. No matter what race, gender, or playstyle... You're pushed into a role that is entirely the same as every other player. You can still roleplay, to a degree, in Skyrim. You can imagine a backstory for your character; devise a reason why you were captured by the imperial guards... But you can't really continue to define who your character is in the game. When it comes down to it, you're always going to be the Dragonborn. Anywho, just my thoughts. I'm currently keeping my eye on quite a few Skyrim mods that are recreating both Oblivion and Morrowind in Skyrim's engine. I really, REALLY, want to play through the Oblivion Thieves' Guild in with Skyrim's Graphics. It'd be the greatest thing I'd ever see...
Morrowind has the highest replay value of the series (imo) and in that you're the Nerevarine. Same situation really.
The PC mod that is recreating Morrowind in Skyrim is planning to release their beta in February or March. Here's a Skyblivion progress vid: Skyblivion - More cities, interiors, improved graphics, npc's, creatures and bonus! - YouTube
You're naiive to think that Skyblivion/Skywind is the only one out there. I've seen around twenty. Even though most of those will never be finished or suck, there are still others.
Anywho, Dragonborn comes out tomorrow for 360. Bethesda is still giving a middle finger to the ps3 for the other DLC but...meh Leaked details. Don't click on the spoiler if you don't want to know them Spoiler http://www.examiner.com/article/skryim-dragonborn-details-leaked-early
They have already given valid reason as to why they can't get their DLC onto the PS3. Snyways, just another reason to choose Xbox over PS3. [br][/br]Edited by merge: I know that there are more, but the others I do not acknowledge for the same reasons you do. That's why I stated "The Morrowind mod for Skyrim."
Yes, and in my opinion it is decent. Not great and not at the same level of some past DLC for the Elder Scrolls but it is decent, better than dawnguard.
The price tag is a bit of a stretch, but it's refreshing and somewhat expansive. Ah I'd say its worth it.
" Title update 1.9 for “Skyrim” adds a new Legendary difficulty setting to the game as well as the ability to turn skills – in which players have already reached 100 points – into Legendary Skills. This process resets the skills current level to 15 and allows gamers to level up the skill again, thus getting as many perk points as they desire from re-leveling Legendary Skills and giving the game the possibility of an endless level cap." That sounds pretty interesting, glad they're finally removing the level cap. Source: Next Skyrim Title Update Removes Level Cap | Gaming Dragons Blog

I hope "legendary skills" makes them a little better than normal skills. I was never a fan of prestige in Call of Duty which just reset everything without advancement. I mean I get it is a way to keep doing the same things but it takes work to get to 100 and I feel like if I'm going to reset it back to 15 then I want some sort of improvement along with that.
It'd be enough for me to replay Skyrim again, too. Currently the patch is only out on PC as it's in beta form, with consoles coming before the end of this month, or so I've heard.
I totally just remembered I bought Dragonborn and never played it. Could somebody tell me if it's even worth doing at this point, considering I haven't played in months and I have little interest in the game anymore?
