loaded this up and it definitely feels accurate. were there a couple of things that needed to be done to get to 100%? sure. But it is the best lockout remake i've run around in or played in. Shut-out is good, but it doesn't deserve as much acclaim as it's getting, IMO.
Got to try this out the other day, and I really like it. This might sound silly, but one thing that really stood out to me was your incorporation of lights. I dunno, but just little nuances like that really provide that extra bit of nostalgia. If only I could get a group together to play some CTF on it... But again, great job on this! Looking forward to seeing what the map is like after you and MickRaider have modified it.
Hey, here is an idea that I saw on a Blackout remake. Have you tried putting in a central floor cap phased in the blocks on the center to replicated the glass pane in the middle. Theoretically, it would be a lot less bumpy to walk over at the top. Mind you it may be too large and might protrude out of the center platform in which case ignore this idea. Another idea would be to lower the window in the center slightly and frame it with railings to get rid of the bumpy edges of the window piece, the 45 degree angle on the railings would create a slight dip but it would be overall smoother.
Honestly i feel there is a lot wrong with this map. Its bumpy, your sniper tower is too steep there is no top to your drop down room with the sword and you can't do railing jumps. Also despite what you claim its not 1 to 1.
I did some measurements yesterday and most of them are spot on. There's some trouble areas (Elbow, bottom mid) but I'm willing to make some of these changes with you. For the doubters of the BR tower. I went into Halo 2 and the measurements and construction of BR tower is IDENTICAL. There is literally no discrepancy at all. They probably just imported the 3d model. In the same way Library is perfect. Now as for the invisible wall on the piece, that I can't verify without playtesting. I can make a video if there are still doubters out there.
Great to hear and awesome work in doing so, that puts any worries to rest. Eager to work on it with you, I'm confident we'll be able to make it as close as possible. I keep catching you when busy or away, but when you're ready let me know. I can give you the most recent version as well. Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. It'll only get better with time. 2v2 CTF is actually a blast, I've had a great time with it. Brings me back to Halo 2's Double Team playlist. In the scheme of things, that's not "a lot." It's always fun reading one sided posts pointing out minor flaws versus the other aspects that were carefully crafted and work perfectly. There is reasoning to the ceiling, though it can easily be added if it was to be an issue. As for it not being 1:1, like MickRaider said earlier, feel free to call it 99% for the time being. It's one of, if not the closest to being 1:1 at the moment and is continually improving. Perhaps my claim is unjust until then, but like I said earlier "Not even a percent of boastful nature is tied to this project, instead it's made out of love for the community and presented in openness." That means I'm willing to take and act on feedback, as has been shown already.
I'll def want to check it out. I'll also show you some of the things I'm noticing as I still have my 2nd xbox hooked up. I should be available tonight between 7-8ET if you can plan on being available then. It's probably going to be a lot of work, just a warning. Mostly due to having to optimize certain areas to get back some decorative budget. Should be worth it in the end though.
The file share release is still version 1.0, though I'll inform everyone when the next and potentially final version is ready to release. Until then, I'll let you all know what's going on behind the scenes. After some input and cross referencing with MickRaider, there was a decent amount of work to be done. We're handing it up and back, each of us updating solo and improving on the previous update. It's a great way to get things perfect. I'm excited as the map is practically an entirely different map after just one night. All of the jumps are now retained and most of all streamlined, both playability wise and cosmetically. Many dimension changes were also made that help streamline the map. It's an ongoing process, but will be more than worth it in the end.
I've worked on Lockout for 2 years. From what I've seen in your pictures, this is not a perfect remake. I will download and give my full opinion and criticism.
Same here and have played on it, like yourself, infinitely. Judging by the pictures I'd tend to agree with you. That version is highly outdated however, so it'd be best to wait for the final release by MickRaider and myself.
Okay, well good luck. Just make sure you work on fixing bumpy areas, gaps in walls, z-fighting, line-of-sight, and door frame jumps. Your scaling of top mid in this version won't work considering the size of BR Tower and Library. I don't know if you've seen my Lockout, but if you want ideas, feel free to look in my fileshare for it.
I noticed you have a window in the middle which causes you to stumble when you walk across it. You should try a floor cap instead. Would make for a smooth even floor surface.
Apologies for the slight necrobump, but I'm intrigued to know what's come of your co-forge. I'm not particularly pleased with Shutout and would love to see a completely accurate remake of Lockout completed by two very capable Forgers.
I'll second that. I too have wondered if anything else has been done w/ this. agree that shutout is a bit overrated...
This project is very much alive and well. MickRaider and I have been working on it tirelessly over the past month and since this thread, it has underwent roughly ten major version increments behind the scenes. Almost everything has been amended or changed for the better in some way. Without any exaggeration, I'd say we are literally 99% done and closing in on a final release shortly. Definitely stay tuned.
Maybe you won't post a map labeled as a "perfect remake" on its first go in the future. Just kidding. Can't wait to see how its coming along, am quite excited about this project, and glad to hear it is alive and well.
Well "Perfect Remake" might have been a stretch before, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find any glaring inconsistencies now. Except for the glitch on BR tower, but if you know it's there it's east enough to work around. Still really disappointing, but it's too much sacrifice overall to rebuild BR tower for that tiny glitch.
