Well, I am excited about MGS4 coming out soon (december I believe), so I decided yesterday That I would build the REX. It took about a third of the day, but I had fun building it. MG-REX Its Railgun is fully functional, and can fire fusion coils and players (players must be crouching) Due to the hight barrier, players can't make it through the railgun, so I added a teleporter in the center of it that launches you out of a reciever at the end of it. It also comes with an assault gametype. The Bomb carrier (Snake) Has his optic camo on, and must make it to the Rex undetected and destroy it before liquid activates it. this looks really cool. it looks like a very fun map with a cool plot and game. the actual map looks really good also. really cool idea good job.
this is blasphemy.... my friend MGS4 comes out on june the 12th 2008, its the single reason i bought a PS3. If u want the game then then pre-order fast. oh and the map looks great, REX is definately the worst metal gear.... make a metal gear ray and i will download. Cheers.
I chose the REX because I personally like it better than the RAY. I might try it next week though. I saw a date somewhere that said MSG4 came out in december, think it was a youtube trailer or something (or they put the date in DD/MM/YY instead of MM/DD/YY, idk). Anyways, now I know it comes out even sooner, and it will be the only reason I ever buy a PS3. Now, its time to start saving for one =D
yeah sorry I forgot to say the plant point is in its mouth/cockpit, and that the defending team also has a watchtower, which is only accessible by spawning there. But yeah, the map wasn't going to be playable at first, but then I decided I could make an assault game for it so I added parts onto the back of the feet that allow the offense to climb up, jump through the teleporter and teleport to the Loading chamber of the railgun, then jump ontop of the REX and walk down a thin ledge into the cockpit. There are also some custom powerups scattered about that will give the rest of the offense some of Snake's optic camo.
This is a great plot/gametype. How many people have you tested this with? I'll download later. Custom is full.
I have only been able to test the gametype with myself and a non-playing guest to make sure everything worked (bomb spawned at the right place, plant at the right place) I was disappointed because the people at my local Lan center that usually help me test my maps were all playing GTA instead, and non of my xbl friends were online. The gametype is simple though, and I didn't really put anything in that could screw up horribly and ruin the game, so it should all hopefully work fine.
i have never played MGS but if there are these things in it im gonna go buy them all right now lol, but anyway nice job building,the idea is creative, and assult game you where talking about sounds real fun, but one quick question what do you mean by "optic camo"
In metal gear solid, optic camo is a material that bends the light around you in a way that makes you seem almost invisible. Its pretty much exactly the same as the Active camo in halo. You can see the persons outline if you look closely.
great but it wouldnt have been better if u faced it the other way becasue then people could attack it from the other side !! Great map though! 99.99/100 cuz i feel like it hehehehe lol Good Luck on any future maps! Peace
ahh i agree, Metal Gear Rex was much better, and Scarier! metal Gear Ray was a little....well poofed! hehehe plus the fact extremely weak in comparison! good map btw! Kudos
YES! Metal Gear Rex is my second favorite metal gear (The precursor Shagohod is my favorite). I'm glad other people on forge hub appreciate the metal gear series. Check out my Shadow Moses Island map, I'm sure you would love it!
Very well made. It makes REX look less hideous, so kudos o nthat one. Yahs, please make RAY, he's way awesomer (In my opinion). Perhaps 2 on 1 map if you have the resources?
