Vandelay is what happened when I decided to try to make something, anything out of the default geometry on Ravine. It looks so purty but what the hell good is it? Well, it's good for making a long, somewhat Elongation-esque map for CTF and slayer games, that's what. Vandelay is symmetrical on two axises and has a lot of fun features like two lift pits that you fall into before they shoot you way up in the air, and a central room that is a boltshot-abuser's wet dream.

Vandelay is currently in playtesting - if you want to get in on it, click the banner in my sig for the TCOJ customs lobby. I'm running this and several other maps right now.

This is the most innovative use of Ravine's natural geometry I've seen so far in Halo 4. I've only had one game here, and it's not yet there, but Vandelay is with great potential and implements some neat features like the Solace-style lifts.

You need to stop showing me up.

I saw this in its early stages and I'm really surprised to see it near-completion this quickly. I agree with Audience: the aesthetics are really nice, even with the different textures of the Forerunner ring and the UNSC pieces. Very noice.

What's the recommend player count? If it's small enough, I'd like to play a game on this before a TCOJ lobby, please. ;)

So far it's only been tested 4v4 which worked pretty well. I'd say no more than that, and 2v2 might work; it's probably kind of big for 1v1.

It's pretty cool that the forge pieces don't look as out of place against the forerunner surfaces as they usually do in most maps that try to mesh the two. The gameplay on this is simple, and by simple I mean simply fun. There's not to much to figure out, layout-wise, so your able to just get in and start playing the game, and it's actually a beautiful space to run through and around.

This is looks like an interesting layout and a creative use of that structure. I will make the typical and annoying observation that the pallet doesn't go well with the forerunner skin, but there's nothing you can do about that. Btw, nice name. Vandelay has done such good work in so many different industries...

    CURSE YOU, CYBORG..! :)

Yeah, that's pretty clear, and unfortunate. But I just like the look and unusual shape of the forerunner structure, so I thought I'd try to use it somehow, and integrate it as much as possible. It looks best in the center room where I was able to use the architect base pieces (how useless are those??) as the floor and ceiling, and make walls out of objects that didn't look completely awful next to them. But no doubt, the UNSC blocks don't match the forerunner stuff in shape or texture really. Ah well. At least it makes it EXTREMELY clear where you are on the map at any given time...

I'm offering free donuts and backrubs to 343i if they put a few different object skin sets into the forge map(s) in Halo 5.

But he's not much of a latex salesman.
