    What is it?

Forged Ops is new style of forge maps I am developing. These maps are set up like a set of Spartan Ops missions - 5 missions with a common setting and goal. The narrative is set up by the description of each map and players fill the gap by playing the actual levels.

The first Forged Ops mission takes place on the UNSC ship 'Heaven's Gate' as it is ambushed by a cloaked Covenant cruiser. The ship's crew are forced to defend themselves from oncoming Banshee's that attempt to board their craft. The following 4 missions detail the crew's fight against the boarders and their eventual escape.

As mentioned, each mission will have a goal of some sort and this is communicated through multiplayer gametypes such as CTF and Dominion. For example, CTF would represent a 'get to this waypoint to escape' kind of mission, whereas Dominion is sort of 'defend this station as long as possible' as the crew make their escape.

I was wanting to gauge interest, take suggestions and help and also gather play testers if anyone is willing. The maps themselves are done, but I need to tweak the gametypes and spawning. If you can assist, or are interested in the project in any way, please sound off below.

    Previews coming soon :)

sounds interesting, care to elaborate on the specific mechanics?

Thanks for your comment, glad to have piqued your interest. :D I am a bit of a fan of your maps a must say :p

Anyway, down to the nitty gritty, the first level uses Dominion. There 3 bases, the first of which is along the port side of the ship, which is under attack from banshees and shade turrets. Several dominion turrets, as well as an immobile scorpion, mantis and rocket and gauss hog cover this side. It is intended that the defenders cap this early on in order to hold off the attackers.

Eventually though, the attackers will get through the defenses and cap this base. The defenders can the back into the armoury and cap its base for a mass of weapons to defend with. Failing this, the final base is located in the server room and serves as a last stand with the crew's backs to the wall.

This first level can see either one side or the other win, but the other levels generally favour a side. In the first level's case, it's sort of evenly split but obviously, the attackers need to have enough of a presence to cause the defenders to back into a corner.

Subsequent levels use CTF and Dominion in alternation to achieve similar goals. The CTF levels (2 & 4) see the attacker's flag spawn next to the defenders, who have to get through the ship to their flag to score and progress to the next level, the attacker's being well armed to stop them.

The third level is similar to the first, however, there are only two bases, one for attackers and one for defenders. The twist is that there are actually 2 bases for attackers (as in two bases called Bravo), allowing them to rack up double points and eventually overwhelm the defenders, who hold out in the bridge with a bunch of power weapons.

The last level is almost a situation reversal of the first, seeing the defenders using banshees to fly past a Covie base littered with ground emplacements, heading the UNSC base on the other side. Once they reach this, they are given weapons and vehicles in they cap the single base. The game then enters the last stand phase, the defenders knocking down the attackers until none are left while they try to cap the base in order to survive.

A bit lengthy, I know, but hopefully you can see where I'm coming from without any visual aids. If you want to have a look at the maps at any stage, add me on XBL (GT: Nero Link) if you're still interested. :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, that the map design focuses a lot on aesthetics. I aimed to make a huge ship in which to fight on (considering 4 out of 5 levels are on it, I think that says something), and so there are lots of cool things to look at. For example, even the opening chapter would be awesome with a full party.

Imagine plasma bolts hurling through space with turrets and cannons firing back from the ship. Other things you'll encounter are various guns, radar arrays, a MAC cannon as well as trip through the ship's engine room, where you'll find the engine core among other things. And again, other than this, you can just revel in the sheer scale of everything, even if you can't reach it all in game :D
