New news (better than the old news): - Recent TCOJ convert and awesome guy Fenix Hulk is hosting his own custom lobby TODAY for fun, Quake-inspired games on arena-style maps. It's this afternoon - go sign up. We just ran some of these maps in the TCOJ lobby and they were incredibly fun. - The new TCOJ sign-up thread is up like usual and we are already full, but accepting reserves. Hoping this week's lobby won't be cut short by XBox Live swallowing its own butt. - Forge Hub has just announced the 2v2 Dust-Up contest, which will be run on community maps. Stuff you test with us could be a contendah, so show up for the testing and stuff. Of course, that contest is looking for somewhat smaller maps, not the bloated behemoths we often traffic in, so maybe TCOJ co-host xAudienceofone's Friendly Fire Customs is more your thing. They play on Thursday or Friday each week, and focus on games with no more than 6 players, specifically for small maps. Look for their new sign-up thread in this forum early next week.
Well it might not work. Traditional one flag works like a game of chess, the beginning of each round sees the pieces (players, weapons etc.) reset on the board. This version will see the attackers able to build momentum and possibly string the defenders out, forcing them to regroup. The defence dynamic should remain almost the same as traditional one flag; however the defenders will have to ensure they are not forced onto the backfoot and out of their base, to avoid caps in quick succession. But we will see on tuesday.
That's part of what I like about the idea. That dynamic already happens in 2-flag, it will be interesting to have it in 1-flag.
I got something real special and crazy planned for this lobby. This will be more related to Unreal Tournament fans over Quake.
I've got something crazy in mind too. It's still basically a Halo map with regular game settings, but the design is something I dreamed up on Friday and it's highly unique. Hope you guys like it.
After a week of forging, play testing, forging, play testing, editing, play testing, i can finally bring you my second flood map, this one is entitled THE POT. Use any Flood game type you would like, I personally use: NECROSIS Gamertag For Download: Cookie Iz Bad The Story: A UNSC Power station was over run by the flood, help clear it out or wait for evac The Map: The map features 3 levels of cqc with long lines of site, but a few site blockers to help you out, Find the secret to the 3rd floor if you're the flood to wipe out the Spartans once and for all! PICTURES!! {sorry for the quality} The Pot V.3 - Imgur Shout out to OpTic_Niko for taking these HD pics! The Pot V.3 - Imgur
I have been working on something special, having 5 rounds where you only have one life and new stuff gets introduced into the level as time goes by but i don't know if i am going to finsih, i had a death in the family on friday and i have been busy. This variant will only work if there are 8 people also so if we get 5 vs 5 i won't be able to do it either. hopefully i find time tomorrow to finish
Sorry to hear that, unrivaled - hope you and your family are doing OK. The game sounds very interesting. The only thing I would caution you about - if players have just one life, make sure that either the rounds are short, or it's kind of hard to die (or both). Nothing turns me off in a custom game faster than sitting around waiting for other people to kill each other while I twiddle my thumbs, and I don't think I'm alone in that. Single-life games always sound good on paper but the reality of them is a lot of boredom for a lot of the participants while the two best (or luckiest) guys hunt each other down. It can still work well, but usually takes fine-tuning.
I'll take that last reserve spot por favor. Finally got some time off on a tuesday night. I have two as well.
Yeah don't know if i got my timing right for this yet as i am only one person(i have to anticipate how long it will take to kill someone in 7 different small areas) and i dont know how long it will take people to kill people. but the rounds will only be 1 minute and 30 seconds for the test just to make sure there is enough time. but i might shorten it. it is very frustrating forging with large teleporter zones as well.
Ok, this really sucks and was really looking forward to this week but I'm going to have to withdraw from this week. Didn't realize before that this falls on my father-in-law's birthday. We will be doing dinner at this time. Also I have to withdraw from Dex's due to a College Final. Hoping to catch some of you in my Thursday lobby though, I'm giving away a Locust Helmet unlock code to the Winner with most points at the end of the night. Probably will be doing something related every week in my lobby.
that sucks hulk i was really looking forward to your map. Anyways, I finished my map and it is quite epic. Can't wait to test. Hopefully we will have only 8 people in the lobby. So here is a little more about it. It is basically a series of one on one battles using all of your skills in Halo. Here is a list of all the stages I have put together. Speed Stage Sniper Standoff Br Battle Jet pack Battle Banshee War Mantis Mayhem Sword Duel Also , If you don't kill your opponent in time you may be in troble for your next 1 vs 1.
That sounds utterly fascinating - really looking forward to it. I'm always happy when we run maps and games that think way outside the box. Also, we usually cap the party at 8 unless we randomly end up with more than 8 people off initial invites; then I usually cap it at 10 instead, just because I really hate to ever boot people. If you need 8 max, I may just set the cap at 8 to begin with so we can't overflow. When the Slowskiiis were playing with us (what happened to them anyway? I liked those guys) there were usually 2-3 of them, so that tended to overstuff the party...
Yup Unrivaled's idea sounds like a lot of fun. Apprehensive about my map now. I have done so much to it you all might struggle to recognize it at first. And no Fenix Hulk is a damn shame too :-(
