Hey Guy i would like some Feed Back on The Looks of The Remake So Far, here is a Preview of Red Base With a Comparison Shot i hope you like what you see so far, and the more feed back the more ill likely finish it. done Halo 4 Rat's Nest Red Base: Halo 3 Rat's Nest Red Base: Progress Update 1: Map Over View + Comparison Shot 2: Progress Update 2: Comparison Videos!: Halo 4 Rat's Nest: Rat's Nest Remake Alpha Build v2 Halo 4 Forge Map Preview | Kazeroid - YouTube Halo 3 Rat's Nest: Halo 3 Rat's Nest Hog Drive. - YouTube Progress Update 3: Map Walk Through Video!: Rat's Nest Remake Alpha Build v3 Halo 4 Forge Map Preview | Kazeroid - YouTube Progress Update 4: Map in its Final Stages: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppk2jU3bGPI
Looks pretty decent but the road should only be about half the width. I would of personally used the corridors for the road and the wall for the wall. I would think the width of the original road is about 1.5 times the width of a corridor.
Well, just for a rule of size to go off of, it looks like the original is just over 3 warthog lengths wide and yours looks about 5 wide.
Is there an award or some sort of acknowledgement for most dedicated forger? If not, maybe there should be. I'd like to nominate KAZEROID. Gotta respect that level of dedication. Keep it up, man.
it means alot, to here that from another talented forger as youself, the thing that drives me forward is you guys, and the feed back, i've always had a passion for Multiplayer Level Design. Forge is Fun
Looks nice so far. Just a heads up though - Thruster Pack users will get through that One-way sheild you're using as a window. A window might actually be easier in terms of not being able to break the map. Also, I'm with Gronfors. Make sure you get something in that replicates the pipes if possible. They were my favourite part of that map.
I measured out the width of the Rat's Nest road for you Kazeroid, its 5 units wide from white line to white line. I would also suggest using the corridor sideways, then just use the walls to trim - it would give you one extra unit worth of space on each side of the white lines which should be good!
with the pipes and color being driving features of this map, i am pretty surprised you didn't use the erosion map as the forge template
Nice updated changes! If you plan on putting the pipes in the only unit I see feasible is the pipes on Erosion though. It will take up way to much budget using building blocks, probably taking close to 100 of them.
Take my opinion for what it's worth, considering the dudes that I played with and I only ever played big team if we had too big of a group to play ranked or just felt like screwing around and getting some funtage clips. The only thing I ever liked about Rats Nest was batting my random teammates in warthogs off the edge with a hammer. Over and over and over again. The way I see it, you can approach this remake one of two ways. Focus on the aesthetics and go the Erosion route or focus on game play, which it appears you're doing, and with which I agree with. The pipes don't contribute to game play at all. To me that's like complaining about a Guardian remake because it doesn't have the structure above top mid. I think the station pieces are much more beneficial to the composition of this map than the minor aesthetics of the pipes. Focus your attention on scaling and the detail in the open middle portion (where rockets spawn) and you'll nail the feel of the original.
You could climb on top of some of the pipes from what I remember, which attributes to gameplay. Rats Nest was one of if not the best warthog map in Halo 3 so good job on remaking it Kazeroid.
I was thinking about this map last week good to see someone is tackling the challenge it would fit perfectly into halo 4 like Vahalla probably. However this makes me miss halo 3 lol.
I know. You could grav lift up or nade jump in a few spots. I'm simply suggesting that it shouldn't be the focus of the remake. The frame rate issue is so prevalent in this game that you have to make compromises between looks and functionality.
The Main Thing im focusing on right now, is getting the map complete with minimal Issues, i have a feeling just due to the size oif the map like my longshore remake that the lighting will faile but i will do my best to keep it working ill update again when i have more pregross With Remakes you need to learn to simplify the map.
Please don't let this sit on your hard drive, I loved Rats Nest and I neeeed an awesome remake of it. I can't wait to see the finished product, Kazer.
Wow look at all the support i get im happy to see you guys opening your mouths to tell me what you think would be good, and i will most likely check out what you wanted to see and see for myself if it works good im just a lil busy here and there around my house with renos, so that why i did complete it like i did with longshore in one sitting 5 and a half hours in forge straight and it wont sit there [br][/br]Edited by merge: after the map is done the basic layout thats where i get everything set to a basic look, then add detail, me gameplay is everything, if it dont play right it dont belong *Cough* *Cough* *Complex a piece of ***** *cough* sorry about the cold [br][/br]Edited by merge: The Pipes Will be second to last, i need to get the main gameplay fundamentals in first.
Rat's Nest was a really fun map which is why I think I like Harvest (it's not even close to a remake but has similarities like Guardian and Lockout have) This one looks good! If you can, you should add the background Pelican if you have budget left over and if it won't kill the budget! So far it's looking fantastic! Definitely gonna be a download. You remake a lot of maps I loved (like Longshore) Anyway...looking great!
i like to remake maps no one has remade yet there are only a few left to remake but i still want to remake a few more maps my next remake will be a map from Reach, witch i hated to play but i like to forge BR Veteran (not a fan of the DMR)
