Incarceration [The Cage Remake] (Please excuse the picture quality) Nestled on the sunny side of the ravine cliff is a structure known by locals as Incarceration. Those unfortunate enough to have served time here know that, while it looks like paradise, it's no day at the beach. This is a remake of The Cage from Halo: Reach, It is probably the closest anyone will come to remaking this map. (that's not a challenge) When I first set out to remake this map, I thought it would be easy. After all, it appeared most of the forge objects remained from Reach. Yet when I started building it, I quickly noticed something was off. It turns out, as most already know, that many pieces' dimensions have been altered in Halo 4; namely bridges, platforms, and buildings. To compensate for these changes, I did what any rational person would do. I custom-built the bridges, platforms, and ramps to construct a more accurate remake dimension-wise. So when I say it's almost an exact remake, I mean almost. From an aesthetic standpoint there are many changes. (but not without purpose!) From a functional standpoint, however, there are very few differences between this and the original. I spent many many many hours tweaking, and experimenting, and testing on this map. I also spent a lot of time in Reach due to my diligence. In fact, I feel like the map looks better than it did in Reach. Now I am at the point where I feel comfortable releasing it for others to play. Let me know what you think. All constructive feedback is welcomed! (negative or positive) Spawn Points, Safe Zone, and Kill ZonesAll spawn points, Safe Zone, and Kill Zones are identical to the Halo: Reach version. I went through and carefully copied each one. GameTypes:All GameTypes' objective spawns, zones, and locations are copied over from Reach. -Infinity Slayer -CTF (4 teams) (1-flag should also work, if it's ever released) -Oddballl -King of the Hill -Flood -Regicide -SWAT Weapons: Weapons on map are all Infinity Slayer drops. -Sniper Rifle -Needler -Shotgun -Rocket Launcher (Replacing Plasma Launcher)* -Rail Gun (Replacing Grenade Launcher)** -Grenade Drops*** *The reason I chose the Rocket Launcher is because I initially tried it with the Incineration Cannon and it was too overpowered. Also, the Rocket Launcher was used on Uncaged in Reach. **I chose the Rail Gun over the Sticky Detonator because, for the purposes of this map, the Rail Gun plays more like the Grenade Launcher. It's a one-hit kill, but only on a direct hit, just like the Grenade Launcher. ***Grenade drops are in the same location as before, however, to give it a more Halo 4 feel, there is a chance for Promethean Grenades to drop instead of Plasma Grenades. Fundamental Differences: The biggest difference is this back area here. The tower back there is actually wider in Halo 4, and therefore I had to make the back ramp wider so it would line up with the door. In Reach, this piece some railing and a window I believe, however, due to creating all custom bridges, decorative pieces (railings) were scarce, so I had to improvise in some areas. Additionally, there may be some (very few) minor tweaks here and there to make sure everything lined up correctly. But, for the most part this map was built off of coordinates. More Pictures! Built right off of the ravine. On some parts of the map, you can see straight through. CTF is a possible and fun gametype. I tried not to miss any small detail in an attempt to stay as true as possible to the original. But I didn't want it to be exactly the same... This window provides a little something new, without drastically altering anything.
Looks good. I didn't enjoy the map too much on reach, personal preference, but doesn't change the fact that you did a good job in a remake.
Hey thanks Sinogard! Yeah, I know it's not one of the favorites of Reach. I especially hated some of the camping that would take place on that back corner bridge. My next project will be to turn it into an Uncaged Remake, which has better flow to it, and should be relatively easy.
