Gametype VIP

    Hey there guys, I recently played a game of team regicide and couldn't help thinking, "This just isn't the same..." I missed those old Halo 3 days so much, and then a thought sparked into my brain. So I jumped into the custom games lobby and loaded up the Regicide gametype. Lucky all the settings I had in my head matched up with what we were given. ​

    With that being said, VIP was reborn!​

    How it works

    Basically, each team has a "King" which is the VIP. I was able to set it up by reducing the points and scoring system. There are zero points awarded for killing base players, but there is 1 point awarded for killing the enemy king. Keeping the gametype as true as possible, it is 1 point for killing a VIP, and the score to win is 10. The VIP gets an overshield as well like the original style.​

    This allows for the classic style of VIP to be brought back into our lives. Of course with a modern twist of gameplay we've come to expect from Halo 4. Since the king is based off of individual score, it forces you to hunt as a pack (Since its possible to switch VIPs at anytime) rather than have your VIP be the lone wolf.​

    It is my personal belief that if this gametype is accepted by the community and shared to others that 343 will realize how much we miss it and potentially bring it back. If not in Halo 4, then in Halo 5.​

    Wow! I was just thinking if this would be possible a few days ago! :D

    I'll dl asap... Also, I'm remaking assault by using the griffball gametype if you want to try it out some time :)

    Just curious. How are the initial kings choosen.

    Kings are chosen by the first kill/player with the highest score just like regicide because unfortunatly its not a perfect gametype. It just feels much more like VIP than Regicide because your team only gets points for king kills.

    And i would love to try assault sometime!

    This looks rather fun, I'm glad to see that you've gotten us this gametype back (not wholly, but to a great extent). I'll try to remember to give a download and try it out sometime.

    You could probably do assault with grifball a time limit and rounds. Idk if you could make a team not be able to touch it though. maybe an honor system. lol

    So does the vip change based on kills or points.

    I tried that as well, there is no way to stop a ball once it has been planted, removing one of the key balancing and design features of assault (there was also a host of other issues that I'm sure I'm forgetting).

    You can do this with the Grifball gametype to get Assault back if you want also. Adding to that statement, contrary to popular belief within the gametype you can actually set bomb arm time and detonation time. People seem to automatically assume this but there is actually settings for it.
