So, I quickly found out that the simple crate-on-top-of-fusion-coil door mechanism no longer works in Halo 4, After some tinkering, here is what I discovered:

For damage to register to a Dominion base shield, there must be a direct, uninterrupted line from the damage origin, to the center of the shield.
-if you detonate a fusion coil sticking out of a Dominion base shield, and there is a forge piece between the fusion coil, and the center of the shield, the shield will not be destroyed.

chain detonation does not work in forge (I hear this is a glitch though, and that it still functions in matches)

    Min/max tech works...sort of

-set two land mines, min 1, max whatever

-set the "trigger" mine to spawn at whatever interval you want, place at start=True
-set the "summon" mine to the same time minus one unit, place at start=False
If the map has to force spawn a land mine, it will be the one with the quickest respawn time
-If a person detonates the "summon" mine for whatever reason, it will still insta-spawn, the "trigger" mine will remain despawned, unless someone, or something, blocks the "summon" mine spawn point.

-I have not tested multiple trigger volumes, but in theory, so long as you set up a chain of increasingly short spawning land mines, you should be able to create a multiple-switch door, thought it might just skip straight to the shortest spawning land mine.

turrets do not trigger landmines at any angle
-I thought that the turret, upon construction would bump into the landline, thus detonating them, no such luck
-in addition, setting yourself as the enemy, and hiding behind the land mine evokes no response there is no way (so far) for a turret to set off a land mine (maybe if you were in a vehicle?)

kill area of a land mine has changed, if any part of the land mine is sticking out of a shield, it will still kill you upon activation

new shield effective distance is one unit from the tip of the red light on the mine

I will update this thread as I find new stuff

thanks for the info. I had tried some similar things after getting Halo 4 and diving into forge. I found that:

one mine phased into a wall with just the red button showing through, can detonate upon pushing it (bump, not melee)
that one mine will detonate any number of mines also phased into the same object.
that explosion can leave the object if some mines are phased out of the wall on the opposite side.
There is no way to get a mine that is not phased into the wall or whose explosion is not already initiated in the wall (such as the trigger mine with only button showing) to cause a chain reaction that exits the wall on the other side.

Basically, what I'm saying is that I found that if you want an explosion to exit a wall, it must begin inside that wall.

To get an chain explosion to enter back into a room to trigger an event, such as destroying a shield etc. you must leave a small opening in the wall for the explosion to re-enter the "apparatus".

    Good luck all!

Can I have a mod sticky this or something?, I feel that this is kind of important for forge mechanics...
