Hello Forgehub, It's me Sinogard. I am here today to show a preview of a map pack I will be releasing soon. The goal here is create 3 maps, each one on a different forge map, that play well and could be used in matchmaking. Originally the Standards were one maps for each of the categories. 1v1 4v4 8v8. This didn't work out and so 3 4v4's were made that could in effect be used as 1v1. They are approximately the same size as Haven, but of course completely different. The Maps shown are NOT Final. If something better is made on one of the forge maps I will replace it. I will only be putting MY best work in this pack. Delta Drain - 4v4 (1v1) All game types supported except dominion. Metropolis - 4v4 (1v1) All game types supported except dominion. (Grifball is supported) Observation Deck (Name change pending) - 4v4 (1v1) All game types supported except dominion. This Vid is now slightly dated. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNtZJA5aVGU Download Link: Not Available Yet!
Observation Deck looks the best of these maps. Delta Drain also looks pretty good. Do these maps have Framerate issues because Observation Deck utilizes many dominion shields and Delta Drain seems like you can see a lot of pieces at once? The one map that needs to change is Metropolis. It is basically one long street with a few LOS blockers. Overall there is not much height variation and really long lines of sight. Observation Deck and Delta Drain look good though.
I am learning forge more and more as time goes on. for now the standards are as follows, 1. they can't have any frame rate issues with 4 players moving on the screen at the same time. 2. Also dynamic lighting must work if its out in the open. 3. They must be unique. no copy cats or looking similar to the other maps. 4. Play well and be competitive. You are correct that metropolis needs some work and I'm figuring out how to address those issues. Thanks for the feedback though!
1) You want the frame rate as stable as possible for your map. The more people you can get on a map without any framerate issues the better. 3) It is not good to copy another map, but looking similar to other maps is ok because you can only do so much with the forge pallet. 4) Not all maps have to be competitive. Many great maps are for casual use so don't feel like you have to just create competitive maps.
sorry should have been more specific. 1. 4 people on the same Xbox moving at the same time. 3. This is where the challenge lays. 4. I like competitive. I dont want to give away to much but wait till you see grifball on metropolis.
you should have posted observation deck in a preview thread on its own. i think its a good map but you should put some kinda respawn on the shield doors maybe like 1 minute
I may end up getting rid of the shield doors for frame rate issues. As for posting it in its own thread... We'll see, the maps shown are not yet complete and need to undergo a thorough testing period. My plan is to release them all at once. For instance The ghosts from Metropolis have now been removed, and is now partially destroyed, and the spawning system has been reworked. More changes pending after the testers guild has been through with it. Then There's High Rise(Observation Decks new name). Its got some aesthetic issues to overcome and frame rate in the middle to destroy. This map is still very well in its infancy and may have a few more changes in its future. As for Delta Drain, I got to go through it and remove a couple of things and add in some things. It just needs an overhaul. Anyway I am rambling now, Thank you for your comment and encouragement. glad to know you like what you see.
