I'll keep this short. One of my all time favorite forge maps is Blackout8SIX's Cyanic in Forge World. My friends and I love it so much we wanted it in Halo 4. But given that sprint is available by default we modified the design slightly. That being said I'm calling this a "modified remake". Thus far only the geometry is done. Spawns, ordnance, and gametypes still have to be done before it's up on my file share.

Second floor of blue base - looking at the window from the opposite angle. Still have to fix the shield sticking out of the teleporter

You did ask Blackout8SIX for permission to remake his map, right?

Good lord! What is wrong with you people?! I was going to put this out soon. I've been distracted by other maps. I'm flattered, really, but come on! At least shoot me a message and tell me you're doing it. I can't stop you, but a little common courtesy is all I'm asking for.

On a side note it looks alright. Not great, but alright. Definitely won't be getting a download from me though.

Why does it matter? He said who it's by...that's enough. Honestly...as the original map maker...you should be flattered but shouldn't need a heads up. If you get one, great...if not, who cares especially if you're going to release the "official" remake of your own? Everyone will DL your version especially if it's better (and as the original designer, you'd understand the nuances more and obviously would have a better remake)

This person liked YOUR map enough to remake it himself AND gave you credit. I'm not trying to flame you but I honestly don't see why it's such a big deal. If your map is remade and you're given credit....dude, you're all-star. Someone regards your map as being THAT good to attempt a remake as if Bungie themselves had made it.

He even linked to the original thread.... so... I mean... yeah.

Yeah, I certainly didn't do it to be rude. In fact I didn't expect such flak. I've had my creations from other games remade several times over and looked at it as flattery. Since making one remake doesn't eliminate the possibility of another being made I didn't see a problem paying homage to a great map. Your gamertag and original map name are already in the map's credits.

Either way, I wasn't trying to get anyone bent out of shape, and nor did I see any indication that Cyanic was being remade, so I thought I'd take it on myself to bring a great map to Halo 4. Sorry for contributing.

    *EDIT*

@Blackout8SIX -- I'm actually really stoked to hear Cyanic will be making a Halo 4 appearance by its original creator. Expect a download from myself and my friends.

It’s really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'm still entitled to be annoyed. I would have been okay with it had I known. I would have collaborated if you'd asked, given input, etc. I will redact my statement about not downloading and will give your remake a go. The truth is I am surprised so many people liked it that someone would want to remake it. I didn't realize it was remake worthy. So yeah, I'm definitely flattered. I hope your version does well (I guess ). I apologize for the unnecessary comments about how the map looked. I actually like what you did with the coliseum windows to let the light in. I had finished my remake, but there were some things I didn’t like and that is why I haven’t released it yet. Plus I’ve got about five or six different maps I’ve been working on as well. Halfway through one map I’ve already got an idea for another. Its very A.D.D. Maybe I’ll put a few maps out at once and call it the "A.D.D. Map Pack".

    @ BoBwUzHeRe1138 – Point received.
@ Eightball – Thanks for watching out for me, bro.

I already posted this elsewhere but wanted to share it here.

"Remember, it is not wrong to use another person’s ideas – it is wrong if you don’t properly give credit to the appropriate person."

That's quoted out of one of my college classes under this subject. It is completely true. No there is no rule of this and never will be. There is copyright, but this doesn't fall under that. It's simple, give the person credit for using their maps or portions of their maps or shame on you. No the person doesn't have to be notified but deserves given credit given to them in your description of your work. It's that simple.

I will say one other thing that you might want to add into the map are the rocks that were in the water. They broke up the LOS on the bottom level. You don't have to use rocks, but something to consider. Also someone told me they went in and added fusion coils near the sniper spawns in the original to prevent camping. Someone also made the comment about the weapon set I gave the map. It was a little heavy, but that is the way I liked it. I'm interested to see what you put on this map.

At the moment the weapon set is similar, but the sticky detonator replaces one of the sniper rifles. Everything is done via ordnance, and aside from the rocket launcher, sniper rifle, overshield and sticky detonator it's all randomized. I spent an hour or so last night getting CTF, King of the Hill and Oddball in. Looking forward to seeing the original.
