There have been countless threads before this, but now the game has been out for two months, we have had time to try out all the weapons in game.

So, put down your top three weapons and give your reasons. Loadout or otherwise.

Me first (and yes, no snipers are on the list)

    3) Battle Rifle: I was always a fan of the BR and DMR personally sucks in comparison (if I need to snipe then I will grab a DMR anyway). It personally has the versitility to be used in almost every situation. The scope is manageable, the accuracy due to no bloom is good and it just seems easier to use, with great effect.

    2) Shotgun/Scattershot: Outside of Snipers, shotguns have been a favourite of mine during the halo series, mainly encouraged through the abundance of living dead and flood matches I have been in. They have often been the reason for my longest sprees and some good last stands. I enjoy there usage and find them very useful.

    1) Sticky Detenator: The first weapon appear for H4 is my top weapon. The SDs versitility is pretty much unmatched and serves very well when you need to cover your retreat. I tend to not be a big fan of it in close combat. But any other time I will use it to great effect.

Despite this, it still doesn't mean I will grab a sniper any day.

    Opinions?

    1) Sticky detonator~ things just fun to play with, the ability to attach it to anything is awesome, and can allow for some hilarious kills

    2) Supressor~ Powerful, automatic, everything about it just looks awesome

    3) Needle rifle~ Combines the accuracy of a DMR with the explosive awesomeness of the needler

Sniper Rifle. Removing faces from 300m. No other explanation needed.

Needle Rifle. Annoyed the **** out of the tryhards with the automatic element on TU no bloom playlists.

ODST Suppressed Pistol. Best headshot weapon ever.

    Needle Rifle?
I don't think I've ever picked one up in H4... I'm lost and confused now?

Anyway... I thought this was your top three weapons as in how many kills you've gotten.
    If that were the case;
    1. DMR
    2. Battle Rifle
    3. Boltshot

    In the case of how everyones actually doing stuff;
    1. DMR - Simply unmatched in standard kills.
    2. Frag Grenade - I'm just a ****ing animal at throwing frags. In countless situations I've managed to perfectly place a grenade (or two, simulataneously) into the paths of my enemies when stringing together awesome multi-kills. I'm no stranger to Hail Marys either.
    3. Sticky Detonator - Like everyone else, it's just fun to use. I hated it at first, but now I've grown accustomed to it's drops, delays, and reload timers... I like it a lot.

    Needler because Needlers.

Boltshot because it acts as your own pocket sized shotgun.

    Boltshotx2 because above.

I use the boltshot more than I use my primary, hahaha.

    For Halo 4,

    3. Carbine. Rocks on Haven, very enjoyable to use. I've been told it's underpowered, and I can see that, but the enjoyment factor is too good for me.

    2. Rail gun. It shoots blue at people. And it explodes.

    1. Storm Rifle: damage per bolt is really good, very effective at medium close range. So much fun.

it's not true, I didn't have time to test all the weapons. I don't remember ever getting my hands on a binary rifle in multiplayer.

    1) sniper rifle / beam rifle
    2) DMR (it has just recently become one of my favourites, since I begin to understand how to use it efficiently)
    3) Saw (though the reload is horrible. I hate it when an opponent drops one, you pick it up and don't notice the magazine is almost empty)

I still prefer the covenant carbine in campaign.

    1. Beam Rifle

Snapshot! Snapshot! Snapshot! It's like a SWAT DMR when I have one.

    2. Scattershot

Everything from the snap reload to the dicintegration effect. It is the most powerful close quarters weapon when wielded correctly. Plus, a rampage on a BTB map with one was obviously quite fun.

    3. Magnum/Flagnum

Not a popular one but I can do really well with the sidearm. There is a reason I win (almost) every game of CTF.

    1. DMR/BR depending on the map. I use both in my loadouts. On a larger map with lots of ranged battles, the DMR obviously wins, but on more confined maps (e.g. Adrift, Haven) I like to use the BR instead, often in combination with jetpack which really pisses off earthbound opponents who have to do battle with the soles of my shoes.

    2. SAW. Of the power weapons this is my fave - not the most powerful obviously, but one that can really rack up a bunch of kills and assists in a row if you use it wisely. I've never been lucky enough to have this and damage boost simultaneously, unfortunately. That must be a blast.

    3. Sticky det. I disliked it originally because I didn't realize how powerful the explosion was, and also because I wasn't playing very deviously with it. I kept trying to do the things I would do with the GL in Reach, like a mid or long range shot that detonated right next to my target for the 1-shot kill. But I've learned, and gotten good with it, and it's just so much fun. Obviously planting one outside a door frame as an opponent comes through, or on the top of a hallway over someone's head, are the sneaky uses; but I also had a battle the other day on Haven where I jumped above a guy and stuck the top of his head, which was incredibly awesome.

    1. BR.
By far my most favorite weapon in Halo games ever. Not much else to say, I just love it. DMR is also neat but for me, BR will always > the DMR.
    2. Railgun.
The Spartan Laser was always my 2nd favorite map in the previous Halo games, but it really sucks in Halo 4, because it takes way too long to charge up and shoot. It's incredibly useless. On the other hand, the railgun seems to be made for me like the splaser was back in the days. If I had to compare it to previous weapons from the games, I'd say it's a combination of the splaser and the grenade launcher from Reach, another favorite of mine. The railgun is easier to use than the splaser was before, and since I already was pretty good with the latter, you can imagine I absolutely love the railgun.
    3. Sticky Detonator.
Man that weapon feels good. It's such a cool moment when you actually stick someone, but also killing people around corners with the explosions can make my day. I expected to miss the grenade launcher. I actually don't because of this little fellow.

Weapons you'd expect from a REMkings in this list but are not present:
    1. Sniper.
It's waaaaaay too easy to snipe in this game. I rock with it even harder than in Reach, whereas in Halo 3 I actually liked sniping because I would miss a shot every now and then and wouldn't be bothered with it because it was actually a challenge to kill someone with it instead of a certainty. When I missed a headshot in Reach, it bothered me because it was easy to snipe. But when I miss a shot in Halo 4, I almost hate myself because every shot should basically be a kill. If you combine this with the fact that I didn't like the noobfriendlyness of the sniper in Halo Reach already, you can probably imagine that I hate it even more that in Halo 4 even 12 year olds can now snipe like a beast. Same for Beam Rifle, another beauty from the past.
    2. SAW
Sexy but not good enough for my top three in Halo 4.
    3. Boltshot.
****ing hate its overpoweredness. I prefer the Mauler.

    1. BR/DMR

I am torn on this one now. If you asked me only two weeks ago I would have said DMR, straight away. But I have been using the BR a lot more now and its just... just sick! I always have both weapons handy in my loadouts because they definitely have different rolls in the game. It all depends on the map to choose a winner.

    2. Railgun

Well, it's a ****ing Railgun. It works so perfectly, just enough charge up time to be challenging, but not too much to be annoying. And that sound is just so satisfying.

    3. Saw

This weapon is a beast, use it on small maps and it rips enemies to shreads. The large mag is so useful too. Its a great addition to the sandbox, filling a gap in the UNSC arsenal.

Hate to break this to you, but you can't zoom while the Railgun charges, nor can you snipe with it.

    My top three weapons are:

    1. Assault Rifle.
    2. Battle Rifle.
    3. SAW.

I like Sticky Detonator, and will use it when it's available, but I don't consider it one of my top three.

It's not technically zooming with it, but you can bring up the binoculars(?) and use them as a sight. It goes away the second the shot fires, but it's great for lining one up.

    My top three weapons are:
    1. Battle Rifle. (I'm liking this more and more after my struggle with my Carbine)
    2. Carbine. (I've put far too much effort into this to leave it out)
    3. Magnum. (It's ****ing great)

You can zoom after the shot has started charging; it de-zooms when it fires. It's not a true sniper weapon but you can use it at a pretty long distance that way.

It is if you tap shot it, rather than go guns blazing... Use it like it's a BR with no scope and you kill in 6 bullets with damage boost. Plus, the first shot is always centre reticule so it's extremely accurate with like no bullet delay, and then there's the clip size being ridiculous. It's a killtac machine, simply put.

If we're going by most used weapon, then according to my stats on Halo Waypoint they are:

    1. Battle Rifle
    2. Carbine
    3. DMR

...but if we're going with personal favourites:

    1. Battle Rifle
    2. Beam Rifle
    3. Assault Rifle

Magnum deserves an honorable mention (being one of my top 5 used weapons). I'd say every kill I've gotten with the pistol has either been in SWAT or with the Flagnum.

While I'm at it, I might as well mention my completed weapons, so far:
    Shotgun
    Frags
    Battle Rifle
    Plasma Grenade
    Sniper
    Scattershot
    Energy Sword
    SAW

Considering going for 100% commendations but I hit SR-130 a couple nights ago, so we'll see whether or not I'll be playing as much in the future.
