Just curious, anyone use fishstick? I like it the best for halo 4. But really, why do the controls have to change for every halo game. Lets see here, I used default in halo 2, bumper jumper in halo 3, recon in halo reach, and now I have to use fishstick in halo 4. I'm not a COD player, but don't the controls stay the same every year that they come out with a new game.
New features, altered control scheme. Halo 3 brought in the equipment plus reloading separate weapons when dual-wielding. Reach brought in the AAs and Halo 4 implemented sprint along with the AAs. I've always used default.
CoD's basic interface doesn't change. Halo has introduced significant new elements in every iteration - dual-wielding in 2, equipment in 3, armor abilities (and loss of dual wield) in Reach, perma-sprint and ordnance in 4 - that require a control scheme reconfiguration, at least to some extent. FWIW, I've used default in every single Halo game and not gotten too confused. The only change I'm really not a fan of is losing the stick-crouch. Crouch-jumping and staying crouched (without using toggle) are very annoying with the current default scheme.
you can't anymore have run and turn on one stick, and strafe and look down/up on another got used to it, but that's what I always used on PS2
I swapped from Default to Bumper Jumper sometime in Reach. I liked it because I played in customs, mostly without armor abilities. Now you can't turn off sprint.. so there's not much I can do about it. I've haven't used fishstick much - I could never play with LT to scope..
I use Fishstick. I played CoD a ton before Halo and those controls seem most comfortable for me. That said, I enjoy using Recon as well. I never even attempted to use Reach or 4's default controller scheme.
For me Recon feels the most traditional to Halo. I can't imagine CoD controls in a Halo game. But yeah, as Nutty said, all the new implementations in past Halos required reconfiguring the controls to suit the game. I only switched to keep crouch the same .
Default all the way through Halo 3, then Recon in Reach because it was closest to the old default. I tried to continue with Recon in H4, but I couldn't handle having sprint on X so I switched back to Default. Crouch on B doesn't really bother me (I've used toggle for ever and ever, I can crouch jump just fine) and I eventually got used to RB melee. I tried out Fishstick for the lols, I couldn't get over how easy it was to quickscope people. Utter silliness.
I use fishstick, it's easy to use with scopes as your finger is already on the LT and you can zoome in and out very quickly. It also saves you having to reach over and press another button or trying to mess around to press the right stick. I used Default through much of the Halo Games I played, I used Recon initially in reach before switching to default and later on switching to Green Thumb.
