I have Remade beaver creek with all modes playable with everything in there original places in halo 2. In dominion i have forged a small base near the shutgun area. I have play tested it many times and it is functioning great. Thanks to all who have playtested it. This map is in my fileshare. Unrivaled20
Looks accurate from the pics. Can't say that the map would work well with sprint. Probably has a chance with the non-sprint gametype though.
hmm, sorry but I think it looks terrible. aesthetically, it is awful (though, I like that forcefield in the center). functionally, it seems decent, but the map is really small (maybe the original was that small?) there is barely any space to move in the bases. and why did you build it inside the griffball court?
You do understand that the map is a remake right? I agree with you on the aesthetic side of things but again, people don't understand that in small maps sprint isn't that useful. In Halo getting the first shot off is really important and by sprinting in a small map you really increase the odds of running into someone and since you are sprinting you don't have your gun up. I know that the map definitely functions well, but I think you really should have chosen a different map for this one, even if that would have meant getting creative with the budget.
A good effort and all, but I feel H4's new gameplay mechanics have effectively killed the small map category
Fauch, this map was in Halo CE and 2, unrivaled20 has the scaling correct, but as silentjacket has said, default H4 kills small maps.
the reach version seemed a tad larger to me but yes i love the accuracy of this remake, we just need to invent a custom slayer variant that plays like halo 2 did that way these maps can be enjoyed without fear of some guy flying past your face from br tunnel haha. I keep saying for maps scaling up will improve the gameplay mechanics a whole heck of alot, now for battle creek its near impossible to keep it true and make it larger as well but iv seen a few variations in reach that kept the maps nature but added new height elements as well as different terrain. Back to your remake though i love it, if you could add tea cups it might break up the blah of the metal floor but its just a thought. Also color coding the bases or putting red and blue orbs could help as well.
Well I play tested this a lot with 3 vs 3 and it didn't seem crammed in. I play tested it 4 vs 4 for hill and the only hill that seem to have a lot of people was the center hill. But I kinda like that gameplay. But with sprint and instant respawn this is really only meant for 2-8 players. As for the aesthetic side of it, i am sick of all the ravine and impact remakes so i used this environment on purpose. Plus i actually like the brown as it gives it an old ranch feel, and fauch's maps have a weird aesthetic to me so we clearly have different values on aesthetics in the first place. Although i do admit i have a few things i need to fix but i ran out of blocks to create perfect corners and i wanted to submit in the fhft3 contest and i don't really have much time to play now that the holiday is over The scaling of the map is to the halo 2 version. And since you all complained about how sprint and instant respawn have made this unplayable, even though i think it is playable, i have uploaded a gametype without them
and you've seen nothing yet. it's not with the color I have a problem. it's just sloppy overall, you have rocks merged in metal walls, a rock bridge that is clearly made out of copied-pasted rocks. that metal ramp on the 3rd screenshot
