Introducing the first "Map Pack" made from the community to the community. I have set up all these maps to have weapons on map and ALL game-types working except grif ball (because there is no point). The pics and vids are not the finished product. I am working on having a video made at the moment for the correct weapon placements and structural re-design. The ones that are here are the original BASE map. Weapons, Objective, and in some cases structure have been changed. I have not had time to check this since I posted it, But on a real note... Idk what the big deal is? I tried to add all of these people but they rather (A) did not accept it. or (B) There friends list is full at the time of trying to add them. I had to play test, forge, and do everything BY MY SELF. It is hard to get a hold of people especially when your running through literally 75-100 maps trying to choose and distinguish which ones I wanted to use and often forget who forged them mixed up. I tried to give credit the best I could. (If you are not satisfied with your creds let me know) I started this as a PRIVATE thing just for my friends and I. Someone suggested that there should be a "one stop get all" gamertag. I ASSUMED people would enjoy having there maps available to all. The reason that I changed "Orbital drops" to "weapons on map" is that, Orbital drops if NOT used in a reasonable manner the map becomes cluttered with symbols and useless info like 2x Frags 50 feet from you along with 15 other weapons. When this is not necessary. you can 90% of the time SEE grenades and you will MOST defiantly see a weapon lying on the ground that you would want. Also when you actually play these maps with ordnance drops it takes away the value of game play by adding all this stuff you dont need on your hud and ultimately Killing some of these beautiful maps with just awful presentation with EVERY weapon on the map using a orbital drops. I changed them to also give a since of nostalgia, better focused gameplay and correct weapon placements. The reason that I changed GAMETYPES was so that they work with all the DEFAULT gametypes launched with the game. People don't really take into consideration that not everyone wants to play JUST ONE gametype. There are A LOT of people who play on these maps and look at these forge maps and say "WOW what an amazing map. TO BAD THERE IS NOT EXTRACTION OR ANY OTHER OBJECTIVE!!!!!!!!!!!" or "I would play that map but its not set up for anything decent." or "what the hell this doesnt spawn here." i also received similar complaints about orbital drop placement. I am hearing problems with slayer pro and weapon placements (which I am working on)..... I honestly don't know what to tell you people who have this complaint. slayer pro doesn't allow weapons on map and I can only forge so much. The reason that I RE-DESIGNED, moved parts of the maps, or added lights were to help with gameplay. For instance TURF. I moved the boxes SLIGHTLY to the right so that when trying to drive the hog you are not getting stuck on every little thing making the hog pretty much useless. However if you do basic simple VERY LIGHT alterations it can have HUGE effect on how game-play works. I'll be honest the only reason I added lights was for the sake of making the maps "look cool" and "call outs" as well as trying to boost whoever map I edited to appeal to the majority of the public. I AM NOT TRYING TO CLAIM ANY WORK AS MY OWN! I have also put out money........ TO PROMOTE YOUR MAPS! If you are un-happy about the changes I am sorry. The only thing I tried to do is make these maps not only available but appealing to the public. Being a forger I see your point of view but you have to relies something. 90% of the community cant or suck at forge as well as them thinking that they are the ultimate map critic. I changed them to appeal to your normal everyday/competitive people of halo. So this is just a contemplation of maps so far? I think its a good idea but you know there are a few variations from different forgers for a few of these maps. I do agree however on Atrocity, Tombstone remake, Rats Nest, and a few others but i think a mappack like this could have waited till the forgotton treasures contest is over, we still have some time and i know alot of maps are being cranked out for it. All in all good idea you might have to just add some more maps to it.
No it is not just a compilation... I have had to completely re-build sections of maps, Worked vigorously on objective, and have playtested till my eyes bled. It is not a simple "compilation" I have spent about 100hrs all together. The reason I didnt wait till forgotten treasures is that these are the best remakes as well as some entries to the contest. like I said, I have fixed all problems with them and fixed game types and weapons. the account is gold on top of that so I can update when ever
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you doing this. You definitely made my Burial Mounds map a bit better around the base and with completely accurate weapons (Although IDK why you took out 1-Flag CTF). Just two things I'd like to ask for my map: could you include my new gamertag, AwTheHumanity, in the description as well? Shorten it as you see fit, but I'd like people to know who the creator was instead of my old GT gamer002 (it's more of an oversight by the developers). Also, I recently fixed a hole in the floor in the back tunnel by the sniper rifle, if you could do that too it'd be great. Thanks. LATE EDIT: And no, I don't like that you did this without permission, but since you put so much time into it I don't mind too much. I just beg that you put my actual GT somewhere on my map description so I can get credit (look at my fileshare, I updated the description).
No, I never got asked, and I'm not a fan of some of the changes made to my maps, from an aesthetic and gameplay perspective. On Turf, the cliff in the back was not supposed to be a Scarab, it was supposed to be a cliff. It's a different look for the map, and The purple light sort of ruins that. Some crates were moved from where they were to where they're no longer accurate. On Cold Storage, it's already pretty demanding on the frame rate, and I haven't been able to fix it. I fear the lights are going to cause problems, and I don't know why the light in shotty room is purple instead of yellow like the original. A trait zone for 110% jump height was removed, and it ruins some of the jumps that were possible in the original map. It was there for a reason. I do like the Base shields in the teleporters, but I fear they may also cause frame rate issues, and I would've chosen a different color than green, since this is Cold Storage, not Chill Out. The rocket platform is lowered to fit with the Trait Zone being gone, but the other platform is left alone. TBH I wasn't ready to release this map on here yet. I do appreciate you taking the time to set up the gametypes, but IMO, it should've stopped there, especially if you didn't get any of ours' permissions, or even notify us that you'd be doing this first.
Alright well with 2 forgers so far saying you didn't ask for premedsion to do this I'd suggest shuttin this down until you go and pm or xbl message all forgers involved then put this back up. If not this post might be locked / deleted as it's an infringement on forgers rights to there map. Good effort lot of time spent tweaking and you said u even had to dish out a little cash, but to be safe mate shut this down for now. I know I for one would be pretty peeved if you had used my Aescension map an didn't ask even if you gave me credit. This post sent from my iPhone.
No hard feelings, I'm glad you put this together for everyone here and on Halowaypoint. I just didn't understand at the time that these were 'classic' versions of the maps. Just understand that most forgers designed their remakes to work with Halo 4's system, with ordnance drops and decreased availability of weapons on map and in my case, a trick to have 1-Flag and a trait zone to improve how the map is played. Still, I'm glad that you reworked them to their original/classic setup and promoted them into an easily accessible map pack.
