GT: AwTheHumanity Map: Burial Mounds Burial Mounds: the mid-to-large sized Halo 2 classic. I remade it in Halo 4 by using a side by side set up with Halo 2. It's about as accurate as it's going to get. In doing so, however, the map is about 90% forge pieces. It incorporates nearly every slope and incline the original did and still is decently smooth. The Warthog and Ghost return and travel the forge pieces well. The map is currently set up for Slayer, 1-Flag CTF, KOTH, and Oddball. The few limitations I encountered were small. The Erosion set is quite ugly, but I wanted to capture the brown/tan ground of the original. Every slope is less exaggerated than the original. The attackers' base is jagged, but everything is maneuverable. The defenders' base is a little too small, but that was mostly due to running out of building blocks. Fun Fact: I don't have any building blocks, walls, inclines, bridges/platforms, or rocks left to use. EDIT: A 90% speed and 25 meter sensor trait zone covers the whole map in order to have it play similarly to Halo 2. So here's me walking around the map, I have yet to test it formally, just enough to ensure the gametypes work. Halo 4 Forge Burial Mounds Remake Walkaround - YouTube And a long list of pictures: Overview
Wow man, this looks like a crazy map to make. It seems like it would play similar to how it did in halo 2. How does 1-Flag work? Where can I get the gametype?
I first saw how to set up 1-Flag on this site actually. The attackers flag is sitting towards the top of the map with a killzone around it at the blue spawn. You are able to capture the flag underneath on the ground. I have a 1-Flag variant in my file share too.
Nicely done, and I like how it turned out on Erosion. If you're interested, I've got a remake for Burial Mounds that I made on Ravine in my file share as well.
Hey I've checked yours out and it was really impressive how much of the Ravine ground you used but still stayed true to the map. I have a feeling that your remake works better with Halo 4 gameplay. My version feels like a small map with sprinting. It worked well with a 2v2 game I played earlier today, still gotta try 4v4.
As true as it can be, and that's not a knock on your work, which is well done. It's just a realization that Forge really needs a set of terrain pieces.
i didnt think this map would even be possible. really curious to get a game on this one. nice job on accomplishing something most people would not have bothered to try!
Checked it out in Forge and it looks spot on. Erosion pieces look great with the whole "broken down" theme. I'm curious how you got the lighting to work, because I can NEVER get the lighting on Erosion to work for me. Ever. Looks great though, I'll post more feedback once I get a few games on it.
one suggestion, and please don't read this as me telling you what you need to do. it's JUST a suggestion/thought I had while looking at your map and reading about it.. because you had to use blocks and walls to create much of the map that used to be terrain only, maybe you should call this map "Aerial Pounds" rather than "Burial Mounds"? As in, it looks like it got pounded from orbital weapons or an airstrike of some sort... would be a nice play on words IMO
I'm looking forward to trying some 1-flag CTF and Flood customs on this one! Burial Mounds, especially made on Erosion, just seems like the perfect place to play Flood, doesn't it?
