Spoiler Axis is a symmetrical Multi-level "space" themed map built with mostly the Impact pallet. The center structure is a large 4 way with no cap. 2 paths go down into 2 "tunnels" each with a little light. While the other 2 go up to 2 more large 4 ways. "Outside" the ship has "space settings" of reduced gravity with a boost in jump height. Actually the 4 ways have "space settings" as the door jams provide a the "boundary" of low grav. I havent gone through and provided inside the station yet, or weapons, or spawns really. Basically I just got the "base" structure done now am kinda feel myself losing steam cause I just don't know what I would like to do with it yet. CTF? Flood? FFA? Dominion? Any input appreciated.
It's a good beginners map, but honestly, using the impact pallet for your entire map is not exactly impressive. Try to be a bit more creative with the design process I'm not saying you shouldn't use the impact pallet at all, but try incorporating other forge pieces into it as well
SJ summed it up. The repeated use of station pieces leads to narrow "chokepoints" and also to stale gameplay. It also makes the areas harder to distinguish between upon spawning and makes it difficult to hide spawnpoints away from the enemy while being close enough to make the player feel like they are entering battle quickly.
I had an idea similar to this I think it's on my file share still- Station(not Taurus station that's another map). But to change up the meh ness I played around with making it like asteroids hit some sections. I may post up what I have to help.
