Plaza

    First post, so bear with me. Plaza is a competitive map remade from Halo: Reach. I decided to call it Plaza because my friends said the lower level felt like a shopping mall. I built it on Ravine, due to my love for the scenery.

    Plaza is centered around Slayer, but will work with Oddball, King, and CTF (Preferably 3 Flag). I recommend solely Slayer and Oddball. It works best with 4v4's, but is also small enough for 2v2's.

    I prefer to use DLESEL's Competitive Gametypes on my maps, so keep in mind I built this map based around those variants. DLESEL's gametypes currently have 110% movement speed, but I made sure all of these jumps work with 100% movement speed if you don't like his variants...

    Let's get on to the Map.

    This is a view from Blue Base to Red Base. Remember both bases are the same.

    This is a top-down view, for those of you who understand maps better with a top-down.

    Description:
    Plaza is a 2 level, symmetrical map. The top level consists of the initial spawn zones, linked by a bridge (top mid). As of now, a SAW spawns every two minutes here.

    You will find the Purple and Green bases adjacent to the Red and Blue bases. Green base is two leveled, with an open back so we can peek at the amazing skybox 343i has provided us. A Sniper spawns at top green every two minutes as of now.

    Purple base is also multi-leveled, except on this one there is a jump up in the back that allows quick access to P2. A Sticky Detonator spawns on P1 every two minutes. It is also directly connected to the sides of Red and Blue bases.

    Bottom mid is where the name comes from. I call this the plaza. There is a square hole in the ground to add map hazard (don't worry, there's railings!). There is a Boltshot that spawns every minute with one extra clip. (Keep in mind this is geared towards competitive gametypes). In Oddball, the ball spawns across from the Boltshot consistently. There are also a few small structures to provide cover.

    To download my map, Search "Str8 Smurfed" in the gamertag search, and download "Plaza v2.5" (The current version). As I said before, I built this around DLESEL's gametypes, so I strongly reccomend you download them from his fileshare, "DLESEL".

    That looks really amazing. Do you have a weapons list? And also, do you think Dominion would be a good game type on it? Can't wait to try it with friends.

    The map has a SAW, Sniper, and Sticky Detonator, which all spawn initially in ordnance drops, and every two minutes afterwards. There is a Boltshot that spawns on bottom mid (not in ordnance) every minute. There are also grenade spawns on Red and Blue bases.

    As to the Dominion question, I'm not sure it would. Dominion is focused on big maps, with snipers, lasers, and tanks. I might be able to make it work with smaller weapons, but I think the map is too small. I do have it set up for extraction, although I have never tested it.

    Liked the layout overall. For my own group of friends we added ramps from red/blue ledges up to the green top room as it really only served jetpack users. Other than that it played well.

    This map looks really great - it's nice and colourful and the use of railings in the Plaza area is creative. I haven't seen those pieces used before. You have a lot of height variation and plenty of cover, which is good to see.

    My main worry is the resupply time on the SAW. It seems a bit too low for my liking as I think this map would play better focusing more on precision-weapon combat. That's just a personal preference, though.

    @Teancum I'm glad you guys liked it. The jump to top green is doable on 100% movement speed with sprint, but it's easier on 110% which is what I use. IMO top green should be harder to get to as it is a power position. Not only does sniper spawn there, you can view the whole green side of the enemy base, and all over the plaza. But I'm happy to see people making their own changes to make it more usable for them :D

    @Kazerra I had a few friends playtest it and they said the same thing. A few people wanted me to remove it, but I want something to spawn top mid so that people won't just sit on green/purple all day. Taking into consideration your feedback as well as others, I might just raise the spawn time on it.

    Also, Give Fame28 credit for those railings. I saw them on his close-to-perfect Narrows remake, Atrocity. They are so much nicer than the blocky railings.

    @Smurfed - Glad you're not offended. I find with just about every Forge map I download I tweak a bit for my group's play style. Nice job.

    Yeah I don't care if people use my map for other things or modify it. Its not like I'm selling it lol. So if anyone finds any good modifications/uses I'd love to see/hear them
