Bungie's next big series. Published by Activision, developed by Bungie's small army of employees.

Similar to Bungie's other universes, Destiny will be a sci-fi set in the future of humanity.

Other then that, not much else is known other then what has been leaked (there will be 4 games in the series).

    And here's some images

    I wish I had a cloak.

Looks pretty crazy but I dunno if I'll ever get over Bungie leaving MS/Halo.

I gusta this game so hard...

I'm indifferent with Bungie leaving Halo
in the end, it was their decision to make, and it was Microsoft's decision to milk Halo dry

I'm glad that they chose a fresh start and I will be buying this game, in faith of Bungie's awesomeness.

They have a deal with Activision SJ, not EA.

Also in Microsoft's defense, since we haven't seen any Halo kart racing or halo breakfast cereals and instead have seen pretty decent quality novels, comics, web series, and a promising 4th game out of the series I am ok with that kind of "milking". Don't mistake a publisher's obsession with staying with an established IP with not caring if the product is good or not. While that can happen, so far it hasn't with Halo.

As far as Bungie's new series, while it is hard to think of them outside Halo, it is important to remember Halo was not their first game nor its first universe. Knowing that gives them more context outside of just, "those guys that made Halo"

I've never finished a halo book, the writing style is atrocious

...it's 4 different authors. Which "Halo books" have you not finished. The Greg Bear forerunner series, the (in my opinion best books) Eric Nylund books; Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Oynx, and Halo: First Strike. The Flood, written by William C. Dietz? Or the series of books by Karen Traviss; Grasslands, The Thursday war.

Or do you just dislike the entire Halo mythos style altogether because all those books have pretty different styles.

And a few more authors just to show off, Contact Harvest by Bungie's Joseph Staten, and The Cole Protocol by Tobias Buckell

the one I tried was "The flood"

narrative and descriptions were so dry, and incredibly dull

    Nylund is amazing
Staten and Buckell were quite good
Dietz picked a stupid story and I couldn't read it
Greg Bear is boring but the content is great
    Travis sucks hard.

Edit: aaaaand that's why you don't like the Halo novels. The Flood is the single worst book in the entire lot of them and it's the most irrelevant of all the stories. Go for Fall of Reach, Contact Harvest or Cole Protocol (though I'd read FoR before CP). Audio books can help too.

Well that explains a lot doesn't it. So you tried the one book that was a retelling of the events of one of the games and thought it dry and incredibly dull?

All of this is pretty off topic and sorry I'm being a little aggressive, just if by bringing up your dislike for one halo book (the oldest one by the way, The Flood was the first novel released not that long after Halo CE), as some sort of counter-point to my saying Microsoft has done an all-right job with the Halo label thus far (not fantastic or outstanding, but all right is better than most publishers when they have a solid IP, looking at you Mario, Sonic, CoD, Battlefield, etc) then it was a pretty poor counter-point.

Anyway, back on topic, judging from the pictures it looks like there will be space battles, hopefully more substantial then the 5 minutes they gave us in Reach, possibly team/squad based play (the one picture with 3 people in a personal shield like thing), and all sorts of differing terrain.

If it really is an MMOFPS, I hope there is an item-based economy and skills and the like.

How often is concept art relevant to the final game?

So I've heard that the story is that an alien species has taken control of Earth and there is only one city on Earth that the humans control. It is protected by a friendly alien ship (probably what that giant floating ball is). It also has to do with the human species traveling from star to star.

This looks wonderful, I hope to god Craptivision don't be dicks about it and introduce all this extra paid for content that we see with all their other games.

Um...fairly often? Not every single piece of concept art created gets used in the final version, sometimes they are used just for internal steps to pitch ideas, but all of it is "relevant".

Also, a lot of concept art is used for promotional reasons (such as the leaked pictures). Though I guess it matters what your definition of "relevant to the final game" means.

I was really happy when i saw some life into the bungie project, and it has an interesting story too. Although the concept art doesnt reveal that much, it does give us kind of an feel of the characters and the game itself.
Its is 700 years into the future.. The ball, floating above earth as an second moon, is not much known about. Only that it is our "Protector" and is known as the Traveller. Other alien species have decided to attack the last city on earth, and you will be one of the young knights that will defend it.

In my opinion the knights do look pretty good, and so do the Aliens. Have you guys seen that tank that they are using?
I have heard that this game has a few valves. Its social at its core, a whole new adventure and new discoveries, and its fun for all and its very explorable on your own, or with friends.

The description said, "almost like a second moon," or something along those lines.
    It's a massive alien ship.

I'm really looking forward to see what this game is all about and in what direction it's going. Bungie has always amazed me, I doubt they'll fail to this time around.

Ive always admired Bungie for many reasons, especially their ability to create a universe, and I'm really excited about this, anyone know what console it'll be on?

And behemoth, i know its an massive alien ship, just got the description a little off.
The rest is good i think.
