for·ger·y Noun: The action of forging or producing a copy of a document, signature, banknote, or work of art. Greetings, and welcome to the map that started it all. Foundry was a revolutionary map in halo 3, and it was sad to see it fade slowly throughout the years. There needed to be a spark, something to bring it back. What better way to bring back a map, than to bring back the map? So Hushed behemoth and I began on our journey. We knew you guys had that memorized inside and out, so the bar was pretty high. On halo 3, there weren't many ways to measure distances; there were no coordinates, no objects that were the same... wait. A few hours later behemoth and I were covering foundry in vehicles. Yes, we measured in warthogs and mongooses mongeese. It was a pain forging in both games at once, two completely different controls, but we managed. This map was forged twice, once on Ravine (Picture below), and completed on Impact with help of it's amazing pieces. After countless interlocks here we are, with a terribly playable, aesthetically pleasing, and heart warming, nostalgic feeling map. Hope you enjoy. "Forgery" -Foundry Remake- (Aesthetic) - YouTube The ravine version Spoiler Thanks.
Needz more Forkliftz bro. This is actually pretty cool. I like that you guys took a spin on the contest and remade a forging space.
...... How... how... [sub]how....[/sub] This is so good, it must have been inspired by Onslaught. @Shoe I haven't gone anywhere...
When Alex (because no shortened version of "Behemoth" sounds good) told me you guys were remaking Foundry, I promptly told him that you were both "****ing idiots". Then he explained to me exactly what you guys were doing. it's brilliant, the attention to detail is fantastic, and I would imagine we will still have enough objects and budget left over to make some solid Foundry maps. I may even make one with no phasing, coordinates, or rotation snap (much less magnets and duplication). This is something that's great to see for those of us who actually forged in the space back in the day. Good work.
This, Nice job on it I saw what it was as soon as I saw the crane. Then I saw the fans and was just like... Woah. You have EVERY detail here but do you just have this area of the map or the entire thing?
Yeah, the crane was very hard to make it try to fit into the aesthetics of the map, but I would rather have a crane that doesn't fit in than no crane at all. Hell, it's the reason some people recognize the map, like you. So far this is the only part we have done. Hopefully when the empty map is complete there will be $700 in budget left. But that is subject to change.
Yup this is gunna win the contest. You guys just needa figure out your budget issues. BTW thanks for inviting me to check this out the other day
Possibly a small one, not too many aesthetics. It's just I'd like to keep it faithful to the $700 max budget on the original map.
Garages are too big, and the frames aren't the same shape. YOU LOSE! Nah I'm kidding. The map is so close it's unbelievable. This should be the canvas for every Onslaught remake.
When I realized it was a fondry remake I thought "That's daft, it'll just be a big square room" But then I saw the picture and am now in disbelief, it's absolutely brilliant and can't wait to download it, look around and possibly remake a map from Halo 3's foundry. By the way, is it up for download, or will we have to wait?
I don't think it's up yet, he said a page back that he only had this room so far and that he planned on the rest being completed. Don't take my word though. Things can change.
Well that's the plan. In order to submit this map it will have to be an on-disc map. The empty foundry is not an on-disc map. I'm going to have so fun pulling this off. Zatherla - overdoing small maps and making them have framerate since 2012.
I am having such a fun time helping on this and I can't wait for you all to see it finished. I'm glad you're all liking it!
Haha this is very cool Zatherla. If you REALLY wanted to take this to the next level, you would make the map with its original items to the best of your ability. No matter how bad the gameplay was for default foundry, it would be the icing on the cake (for me at least).
