I'm trying to get some ideas together for the forging community. Please post below on your favorite pieces of previous halo maps. Any map works. An example would be like... The center area on Ascension when the antennae used to revolve around in a circle. Or The huge lift that brought you up to the top of colossus and to the beam/sniper rifle in halo 2. Or The entirety of how Narrows was a large bridge with two levels to it. Something like those would be great. I think a lot of the time people try to make new maps that might be interesting, 343 included, but they end up being a flop. Instead of this, I'd like to poll together some of your thoughts on what was really an iconic piece to a map that you'd love to see revived in some part of a newly forged map. I like this thread. I think it will be good for poor forgers (like ME!) to see what is and is not well-liked by the community so that they can incorporate those ideas into maps of their own. I created a castle-courtyard thing on a new map of mine that a friend (and respected forger) liked, even though he thought the rest of my map was piss-poor (essentially a bunch of buildings that were supposed to be assassin's creed-esque, but were [and pretty much still are] ugly and random and didn't have good realistic cover between all the open space)(holy crap I think I just got an idea but I'll have to completely change my map... but I think it'd work beautifully if I can do it).
The relationship in halo reach on Spire with the spire/jetpack/dmr/falcon/sniper/landing pads and banshee to me was always great fun to me. But we don't have a falcon/hornet so...
I would like to see something like the one Tower with a Spartan Laser inside from High Ground to come back. It not only acted as a good sniper perch for the defenders, but it also allowed attackers to come in by surprise with a carefully placed grav-lift. EDIT: BTW, I think this is a really good idea and allows players to request what they'd like to see made. (As you already mentioned) On the flip side, forgers get to find new ideas that could fit into their own map designs as well.

I like the overall flow of maps like guardian and lockout/blackout with a central area that most play flows to.( though I think it would be cool to have a power weapon there.(like the center of the circle platform of guardian. I also like maps that have good defining features(again going to use guardian: the circle platform maybe even the yellow room) way I see it a good layout and map design is good but if your map does not stand out it won't get as popular.
