All right, I have a good idea for a minigame, or at least the base of a good idea. I need some help building it up. If a trait zone or if the gametype includes increased movement speed, and decreased gravity, and unlimited thruster pack, one can basically skate around a map at high speeds. I have tested this with weapons, and there are ways to come out of a thrust and fire and thrust again within a second or two. This takes some degree of skill in timing though, which I think can make it a good challenging gametype. Any ideas on how I could use these attributes for a minigame, and also what kind of map would I use? I was thinking an arena style build. If anyone has any ideas, it would be much appreciated. -Thanks, Thrillah24
there was a minigame of similar design in halo:reach called "flat line" designed by godlyperfection however he made it to where players could not jump and had unlimited evade and increased speed with bottemless mag. it turned out decent and focused on high speed combat. his maps were designed to use ramps so if evaded on would cause players to gain altitude so it limited players to where they could get air off ramps and where cover was important because you always had to maneuver around them. sounds like your trying to replicate something of similar attributes but are you going to allow players to jump aswell? if so it sounds like a game of Armored Core.
I guess I am. I have never played anything like this in reach is why I am asking about it. I saw one time an infection minigame in bowl where you had unlimited evade, but that goes out the window with the decrease in options for Flood. Thanks for your ideas.
How do thrusters function within gravity volumes? That could definitely make for an interesting mini-game. Sort of like "Flat Line" in 3D. A really basic map to play on could just be a ring of gravity volumes full of crates floating around grinder-style, surrounded by walls. That's basically the idea I had for using gravity volumes when I heard about them. I've just been preoccupied with other things and haven't had time to look into it.
I'm glad you asked this. I have tested it, and I'm impressed with the results. In normal gravity, if you are up in the air, the thruster pack will push you down a little. In a gravity volume, it will keep you flying straight. If you thruster pack on the ground in a gravity volume, nothing happens. If the volume is overlapped, then when you thrust, you ascend. Also, I believe, nothing happens when you thrust on the ground.
This sounds quite promising. Definitely Action Sack material. What do you think weapon wise? Boltshots with boosted damage?
Honestly I'm not exactly sure. That sounds good, but I know it could get difficult with the speed you are traveling. I would have to test it.
