Hey guys! My name is Matt. I haven't played Halo since Halo 3 because I sold all of my possessions a few years back and went on a world adventure. I'm back, and I just got ahold of Halo 4.

I don't own an xbox yet, but will around mid-december. I play on my friends xbox though and have created my own forge map, but can't share it due to not having an Xbox live gold membership. (No membership because no xbox)

However. I immediately went looking for a forge hub, and literally found one. I can record videos of my map to share, and I'm looking to add some of you guys on XBL and make some friends.

    My gamertag is ArionSHFL

I had one question before I go. Upon what I thought was completion of my map, I found that I can only play slayer based game types. Any objective game is incompatible. I would love for anyone experienced to help me out or even join my game and give me some advice. I could also use some testers. If anyone is interested, hit me up!

    Thanks.

I would love to help you out with this.

In the Forge lobby, you have to switch the gametype from 'Basic Editing' to the objective gametype of your choosing, example: Dominion. Once in game, you ma be required to place certain objects to insure the game runs smoothly, such as in Dominion, out need to set down the capture points and properly set them up in advanced settings. You can find many tutorials out on the internet on how to set up individual gametypes.

If you have anymore questions, please ask.

It looks like your having trouble setting up gametypes. When you go into the forge menu, select a different gamemode than basis editing. Basic editing is used for working on the actual structure of the map. Other game modes like CTF, Flood or Oddball will enable you to set up your own objective locations, spawns etc. Each gametype has a few things that need to be placed in order for the match to even function. To find out what exactly you need to place, I'm gunna refer you to my friend The Psycho Duck. He has some great forge tutorial videos, he's very easy to understand and he'll show you exactly what to do. Just click here for the thread showing you how to set up gametypes.

EDIT: Goat, you beat me to it.

    Hi Matt :)

The reason your map is incompatible with Objective game modes is because you haven't loaded the game modes up in Forge mode and configured them for use.

If you enter the Forge Lobby, you'll find a game mode selection where, by default, it will say "Basic editing". Select that, and pick the gametype you want to customise it to.

Once you're in the game, you should place down the objective markers for that gametype. As an example, if you were in King of the Hill, you'd place down Hill Markers. After you set the size parameters down of the hill, you need to label the Hill Marker as a KOTH Hill. To do that, find the "Label" tags in the item properties (I believe it's under the "Advanced" section). From there, change the first label to show KOTH_Hill.

If your KOTH map requires hills to move in a fixed sequence, increase the spawn sequence option of each of your hills by 1 each time you place an additional hill.

Remember though, to play sequential hill, you need to ensure the gametype hill movement order is set to Sequence and not Random.

Any other questions, feel free to ask them :)

    EDIT LOL!!!
Looks like two guys beat me to it :p

Ok, I've already loaded the game types and all of the pieces are placed for each game mode, I had not done the labeling yet. I was wondering how each dominion base area labeled itself as A/B/C and matched the label to the turrets. I'll look more into it.

Would anyone be interested in playing a few round on my map later today?

It's called Cliff Hanger and I built it just above the death barrier and water down in the gorge on Ravine. You get some cool effects with the water spry shooting up. It's about 60% prefab though. Like I said, I'm just getting back into the game after a few years.
