I inherited my sister's old laptop, bright pink casing and all. I planned on getting a new cover, but after seeing how expensive they were (40 ****ING DOLLARS), I opted for a few sharpies and some artist's fixative instead. This is the result: Took about four hours total. Criticism is welcome.
lol at stippling comment It looks great, way to be artsy and use your circles! The black end is very heavy though, some more balancing might improve the image.
I'll go ahead and rotate it, maybe you'll get a better idea with the correct orientation. The black does seem especially heavy being at the bottom. dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot
In short, I ****ing love it. Would have been cooler with purple and green, IMO but I guess that wasn't an option. Did you at least do some sort of coating on it so the sharpie doesn't rub off?
I've notice throughout your work Kuroda that you really enjoy connecting circle like that and stuff. It's cool.
Ah, that looks better. Perspective can be a bich. I now am finding that the two heavy black zones on left and right feel like they should be connected via a thin line on the bottom. Though that might just be me. I don't know, i feel like something is off (despite the great design). Add more free floating dots on the lower right quadrant perhaps? That area needs just a bit more weight.
That's cool, pretty creative too. I give it a: 4/Potato. Huh? Humor aside, I do enjoy this. It's risky to work on a cover like that with permanent ink, but you pulled it off pretty well. My only qualms is with the harsh black/purple line cutting through the center and bottom right of the case. They're a bit... obtrusive and crude compared to the light fading of the (perfectly angled) circle designs around it. Anyways, nice going Mr. Kuroda
