Map name: Site-E9 Game type: Tower of Power (KOTH) Description: Recovered by the Forerunners and transported to Requiem, Site-E9 is what remains of an old Earth area called Ascension. Creators: Swainooooo + Glitch100 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you were a fan of Halo 2, you would of been aware of a game mode called Tower of Power. For anyone who isn't aware, Tower of Power consists of usually two teams (can be more) who fight for control of a main tower, equipped with a machine gun turret. The halo 2 variant was a team slayer game but the way this version is set up is with a hill atop of the tower, this reinforces the importance of keeping the hill and stops people camping in their base or trying to hide for the win. Before anyone asks, it's not an Ascension remake. Instead I took some of the main elements of Ascension (because it works so well for Tower of Power) and then added a few extra things. I have kept the player traits almost exact too, that being; shotgun is the primary weapon, no shields and no radar. For a list of the main settings see the below; Score to win: 250 Time limit: 15 minutes Respawn time: 5 Seconds Game Loadouts's; Alpha: Shotgun, Thruster Pack. Beta: Scattershot, Thruster Pack. Damage Resistance: 150% Shield Multiplier: No Shields Sensor Mode: Nothing Movement: 110% For a download. Go onto halo 4>Click start>Settings & Files>File Browser>Map Variants>File Share Search>Then enter my Gamertag which is "Swainooooo" (that's 5 o's). Then for the game type, instead of choosing Map Variants, just choose Game Types. Note's: We only created this last night with a little bit on today, any issues just let me know and i'll be happy to listen. Also I'm thinking of adding a 4th path coming from the middle, just so it will be able to suit more teams, what do you think? P.S I can't post in the Halo 4 Maps section, any reason?
I like the concept you have going here. I'm not sure how it would play in comparison to how it once did, it looks like your turret has more dominance over the battlefield than on Ascension. I don't know if it would be a problem, but I liked how in Halo 2 people had to guard the lower entrance to the tower while the turret accumulated kills in the front/top. But then people can sprint now too... Have you played a game on it yet?
That was a concern of mine too but the turret can only see a certain radius. Once you get just past the archway on the left pathway (looking at picture 1) the turret is out of reach. Also on the main ramp leading up to the tower, once you get around the middle the turret is also out of reach. I have played it, to start off with with just no shields....it was a blood bath, so that's the reason I increased the damage resistance to 150%, if once I play a game with more people and I find the damage resistance is too high I'll move it down too 110%.
Looks like an pretty solid map. Ill try to download it, and if i can play with some people i can find. How did you get such clean pictures? Is the file share sytem up?
I took a screenshot on halo, copied it over to a USB then extracted the image with a custom made program. I'll probably get on tonight after work and touch things up. Really I need a big lobby to properly test it. What are your thoughts on a 4th path coming off the back of the center area?
this still does not solve the biggest problem of recreating TOP ... the fact that we can detach the turret and walk around with it kinda kills it. did you find a way to solve this? or are we using honor rules?
We were going to experiment with shield doors, I could disable weapon pickup but all that would do is say someone picked up the turret then died, nobody would then be able to pick it up afterwards. Really the only way to do it is like mentioned and have the honor rule in place, if not just boot them.
I played this (though w/o the game type) and felt like the people who spawn in the blood gultch like base had an unfair advantage due to their height. It was nearly impossible to leave the base for the team on the other side. Maybe if they couldn't get on top of that base?
Good point, I have an idea of what to do to improve it. I'll post back when I've updated the version on my file share, I'll also update the first image to give a representation of what has changed.
