Soliloquy and Jackbasket

    Hello everyone. Today marks the last day of my Reach forging "career." I bring you two of my favorite small-party maps; Soliloquy (1v1) and Jackbasket (1v1/2v2). Click the spoilers below for screenshots, links, and description.

    Soliloquy
    Soliloquy

    Soliloquy is a fast paced 1v1 map with some lovely height variation and lots of paths that bring you around and through the center.
    Since the preview, I have removed the teleporters, ditched the SWAT gametype, and devised a solid weapon layout.

    Weapons:
    DMR: 2
    Needler:1
    Spiker: 1
    Plasma Grenades: 2
    Plasma Pistol: 2
    Sniper Rifle: 1 (Does not spawn at start)
    Grenade Launcher: 1 (Does not spawn at start)

    Jackbasket
    Jackbasket

    Jackbasket started off as a co-forge between Basketskate (Auburn) and myself (formerly known as Jackknife), which I ended up taking over and finalizing.
    Jackbasket supports 2-4 players and is way too much fun for some reason. There are three death pits you should keep an eye out for. There are also some Plasma Coils that can be used tactically (believe me, I know :/) by either using them as a flash bang or to kill/injure your opponent(s).
    I feel Jackbasket is a... Competitive/Casual hybrid. :p

    Hey hey hey, nice to see Jackbasket released. Have you fixed the life pits? :p *remembers hiding in the death pits while losing for lolz..*

    I don't really understand the weapon count of Soliloquy. 2 PPs and a Spiker seems like too much, and the power weapons both don't spawn at start. I wouldn't qualify the spiker as a power weapon because you have the other close-range weapons..

    I remember playing SWAT on Soliloquy a few months ago. I'm not a fan of swat, but the map itself was cleanly forged and had a solid layout that promoted movement, which in turn promotes fair gameplay.

    I haven't had the chance to check out Jackbasket, though.

    Looks like I'll be doing that real soon. Keep up the solid forging, Behemoth.

    Well, for Soliloquy, The power weapons don't spawn on start because they spawn in the initial spawn rooms.
    The layout feels symmetric, PP in the doorway of each High area; Needle-based weapons in each room next to the initial spawn rooms; DMR's at each end of the atrium; and the power weapons in each initial spawn.

    But yeah, the SWAT Gametype just wasn't working out, so I cut my losses and moved on.

    Behemoth, is there any kind of opening conflict? (Can players play the first thirty seconds to a minute passively without worrying about losing weapon control?)

    No real central/opening conflict, but it constantly has you running around, keeping a close eye out for them.
    I haven't experienced any stale or unfair gameplay on either map, at least not caused by this.

    Erhmagod, Jackbasket! I remember that we wanted to make a small objective map, so we hopped into forge one night and started throwing stuff together. I think it turned out pretty damn good, hahaha.

    It's too bad you released Sililoquy so late, it played very well although I cannot say I was a fan of Swat. Also, no covenant crates ♥

    Did you get to play with the third death pit? IT'S ****ING HILARIOUS. It's so out of the way, I don't understand how anyone could be that clumsy. :p
    I remember our first session, when we had just built the Plasma Pistol bank thing, the freaking pieces had it out for me. Flippin' me to my death 'n ****...

    As for the crates on Soliloquy; I aim to please ;)

    Jackbasket <3 My favorite 1v1/2v2 map. I dont know, it just flows very well. Plus I enjoyed wrecking on it earlier :)
