1v1/2v2 A long forgotten Covenant spec ops base, now a training site for Spartans, buried deep underground by miles of rock. One way in, one way out.... Hollow began about 4 months ago, and, as always, was put off. It actually started as a submission for the Smackdown contest, but I didn't finish it in time for that. I knew I wanted to make a small, fast-paced map that centered around room control, with a few large LOS. I wanted interesting playspaces (teleporter, jump-pad), and factors that made most firefights entertaining. Finally, I wanted clean map flow and RvR situations for advantages in battle (Camo jump, Grenade Launcher jump). It took me a few weeks to forge and a few weeks to test and tweak geometry, spawns and weapon placement, but it's been well worth it. I also wanted to make a purple map As far as the theme goes, it's pretty much an underground base surrounded by rock, and it's used for Spartan III training. The name Hollow comes from the fact that it's a hollowed out area deep underground. Hollow: Ticky IV - YouTube Weapon List: x1 Grenade Launcher x1 Sniper Rifle x2 Needle Rifle x1 Plasma Pistol x1 Spiker x2 Plasma Grenades x2 Frag Grenades x1 Health Station x1 Active Camo As far as the gametypes go, it works with any Slayer gametype. MLG works with it the best just because some of the jumps are easier. It's also set up for KotH which can be fun. I want to thank some people for their kind words of advice and subtle inspirational tones: Nibbs The Xzample Confused Flamingo FM and the BB (or whatever your GT is now) Xyl007 (The Silent Hyena) and a few others I probably forgot. Feel free to yell at me. Now for some pictures. I will probably upload more in the next few days, but these will have to do for now. Thanks for taking the time to read. Download HOLLOW
Is that active camo pickuppable? Not sure if this is just me, but some of your pictures aren't showing up.
You might be looking at the jump pad. I used an armor ability to show where it is. The Camo pick up is on the platform surrounded by water.
Hmm it looks like you have changed a large amount of things about the map since the version I downloaded. I dont remember some of those doorways being usable or the ramp 1x2 shallow jump ups , I have always felt this was a very beautiful map and I will definately have to download this new version as well. I had hoped it would be done in time for the Smackdown contest, I really love how neat the rocks are laid out and the look the water adds to the map. By the way your avatar is creepy
the map looks great i will definitely download it. the only thing i dont like on the map is the 2 struts which connect together on the ramps, i have used them before on my maps and i regret it because they look very awkward when connected together, but that is just aesthetics. also i love how you used an armour ability instead of a power-up for the jump pad, its so mean to people who dont know what it is
I can see it all now. @4th picture Consider replacing the 2x2 steep with a 2x2 reg if you can. The 2x2 reg doesn't have the lights. (FR)
I think Shik and I played this map back when Smackdown was announced. Aside from that awkward teleporter and somewhat difficult jumps, it stood out from most of the others. The primary problem we found back then was the linear design that was only thwarted by those skimpy pillar structures. Although they did remedy LoS, I just disliked the fact that they were pillars and not legitimate structure. Nonetheless, the map played great. The weapon playout forced movement through the room-based layout and added some interesting risk situations. With that said, aside from the aforementioned problem, the layout was very well thought out. I'll try to play a game on this eventually and come back with feedback. No promises though.
Thanks for the feedback. If you do end up playing this version, can you save the video? I would like to see it. Thanks again.
Wow ! Looks beautifull ! I like the way you kept the Convenent theme all the way through the map , Also , it looks interesting to play , I should give this a try .....
Your comment means a lot and i respect your opinion, so thank you. I actually could use some gameplay footage so if you do play, would you mind saving it
