[BIOHAZARD] I've decided it's time to release a preview of this to the public. Berb and I turned my old Invasion: Temple into a linear progression infection map (What a mouthful!) to enter the Hub of the Dead III. Many people have helped out the map, whether through the aesthetics, tactical jumps, or gameplay tweaks. This is what it has turned into so far: If you want a glance, message me on live and I'll let you see the map.
Well, I remember testing Temple ages ago. It looks like infection is certainly a better fit for the map, and the changes you've made look promising (I think). You don't have the most "descriptive" pictures to judge by.
Who's the two forgers? I think you're only allowed a forger and a co forger for the contest. Map looks great BTW. Good job for using the cave.
I liked this when I saw it before, though ti seemed a bit cramped in the inside hallways, and overall the first zombie spawn doesn't look very interesting, just jumping out from an increasingly obvious high up location and getting mowed down. I'll have to try it out though.
@Psychoduck-I purposefully chose these angles. I didn't want to give away too much of the map. @Paints-Me and Berb, though many people have given us tips. I will list them all when the map is actually posted. The cave is such a difficult place to forge because of the lighting and the space, I didn't even know if we'd get this far, so it's good to know people notice. Thanks. @Flyingshoe-We attempted to fix that issue, as I agree. The map has really only one tight section: the second picture. As for the zombie spawn, I've killed many people as the beginning zombie by jumping down. If you don't want to attack them that way, you can either take the first teleporter that starts at the beginning, or you can jump across to the temple itself. I'm glad people like the map! Again, if you want to see the map, just message me over live. We've tested it many times and it plays well.
Wow.. wow. This is great use of the cave, the pictures are showing me an very promising map. I really like the last picture, the forging looks amazing. Oddly enough, this reminds me of Lone souls in a lost mine, just looking at the first and second picture, i dont really know why.. Anyway this looks pretty amazing.
I thought you were dead Muffin havent seen you around in forevers, sad face. Its good to see your still forging looks like you and berb did a wonderful job at recreating Temple, I would love to check this out in forge sometime, needs moar Forerunner themed maps!
...I was. We actually took the map itself, and since it wasn't actually posted, we could take most of it apart and build around it.
Haha it sure did seem to be so! I am liking the changes, especially the interior, it feels like itll end up being more competitive and intense, when are your plans to test it out for Infection?
Already have tested it out! The playtests are very intense, though many of them aren't with the right amount of people. I'm not quite sure how many people Hub of the Dead is going to test it with, though. I'm guessing we choose what's best.
Glad to see this posted. one of the better infection maps ive played on reach. Fun almost everytime. Short.. But fun. GJ
@Roboartist - It really is sad that its a short map. I was just thinking about if there was any sort of possibility to extend it even the slightest bit, but with both the item count and the budget, it's just not possible without scavenging what I can from some areas. :| I still need to figure out how many people are played on this map. I could playtest it this weekend, but its meh birthday. I even updated my muffin. I could on Saturday, though.
I would say they would do testing, and runs with atleast 12 people, but I have seen some of these linears capable of handling 16 people easily. Would you say the map is bout the same size as Berbs Aihab map or a little smaller due to using the cave? Should def send a invite the next time you plan to do some testing, my trigger fingers starting to rust. You guys make me feel lazy, takes me months to come up with a solid gameplan in Reach's Forge due to these lolpieces I have to work with hope Halo 4 offers more Forerunner capable pieces.
Pretty cool map ! I liked help you arround whit that map , Pretty interesting layout ,.... well if we can call this a layout (One way threw the map) Hope you gonna win guys ! And Muffin .... How do people like my little building on the way to safe room ?
I really like how this map's going so far. Though not the best in the department of layout + gameplay, forging a coherent structure in the cave that works for linear infection is truly amazing. It looks great, feels great, and is a fun map to play a game on.
@Berb - I got a lobby to test it out tonight. I noticed some framerate in the safe room of all places Why does it have to be in there!? We had 12 people and only 2 zombies, and the zombies won most rounds. It's pretty fun and balanced if you ask me, aside from the goddamn framerate.
It was quite fun in my opinion, and Zombies did indeed have quite a advantage over the humans especially in the holdout room lol, I dont know how many times I ended up in a melee showdown with a Zombie. The Framerate wasnt to bad, it was noticeable in 2 areas, which like I said if you open it up a little more and rearrange/delete some of the rocks it should help tremendously. Its a beautiful Forerunner themed map, which you know I always love your Forerunner Aesthetics, I am hoping once I feel a bit better we can do a Co Forge if you would like.
Extended the back area. Don't know how it will play or if there still will be frame rate problems. Crossing my fingers!
I'm a bit disappointed this is an infection map, because the first few pics looked promising for a competitive map. Nonetheless, I will check this out sometime. It looks really interesting.
Really Man .... I hope we're not going to have framerate cauz it will suck ! Should post pictures of the work we made , update this post Muffin !
