UNSC IDE OF MAY Made by Brody Howell and ZZbomb This is my first Forgehub map, so I hope this post goes well. The UNSC Ide of May is a ship that has been downed on a forerunner mountain. The Covenant are quick to respond to this advantage and set up shop at a nearby base. When making this map, we had aesthetics in mind, but our main focus was playability. This map works well with all game types except oddball, and has a fairly balanced set of weapons/vehicles for both sides. The rooms are very spacious, with no teleporters on the ship. You can walk from room to room via halls or stairs. The ship can be accessed through Banshees, or a teleporter can be taken from the base to a man cannon. The man cannon takes attackers to a ladder which can be used to board the ship. Gametypes One-Bomb CTF Team Slayer King of the Hill Territories Infection UNSC Weapons 1 Rocket Launcher 1 Sniper Rifle 2 Shotguns 2 SMGs 2 Battle Rifles 2 Assault Rifles 2 Machine-Gun Turrets UNSC Vehicles 2 Warthogs 2 Hornets 1 Scorpion Tank (Mac Gun) Covenant Weapons 2 Fuel Rod Guns 1 Beam Rifle 2 Carbines 1 Needler 1 Sword Covenant Vehicles 2 Ghosts 4 Banshees 1 Wraith _________________________________________________ Ship Overview Covenant Base Overview Bridge of Ship (Outside view) Stairs to MAC Cannon (Bridge on right) Vehicle Bay Engine Room Ladder (Off the man cannon) _________________________________________________ I hope you guys like my map. Again, almost all game types work great with it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! UNSC Ide of May
3.5/5 Okay this map looks really nice, the aesthetic appeal is certainly there and the patience it would have taken to make that building in the sky would have been phenomenal. I'm guessing that the only forging on the map is just that building and the vehicles on the ground, which is perfectly understandable for the type of map this is supposed to be. Playability does look somewhat limited though, custom gametypes only? I don't know how it would work. Could be a good assault or CTF map, one sided though. But then that would just make it another Mansion map. But anyway, overall I like it =D Nice work That's right, I'm a professional critique =] Okay maybe not... lol
Pretty good for your first map here. Post is up to standards so you have got a thumbs up from me for that. A bit of interlocking would make this a lot better. There seems to be a few to many vehicles, also that whoever gets to a banshee first will be very dominant. Anyways, looks good, keep it up.
this looks very good. it looks very neat and everything i like the bridge and the ship looks very well built. the vehicle parking bays are also really good. however, could you put up an overview pic of the ship so we can see what the whole thing looks like. otherwise great job, also good post and everything.
The first picture is a full view of the ship. I also did interlock where I needed to, and in places where It would look completely terrible otherwise. With the concern on the vehicles, I played a 16 person One Bomb game on this map as soon as I was finished, and the vehicles and weapons seemed very balanced. The Hornets are overpowered by the Banshees, but the Warthogs tear up the ghosts, and if used correctly, the MAC Cannon can destroy the whole opposing team. We found that many times, the Covenant dominated the air, and the UNSC dominated the ground. Also, vehicles count for nothing on the ship. Thanks again for the criticism!
I put a list of game types. It doesn't require anything specific, just whatever version of any game type you want, except oddball.
wow this map is actually better than the pillar of autum that i saw a while ago and it is way more detailed. good job
Hey im here! The pics you took of it look good although if you did the bridge from the front it would look a LOT better. I will be posting it all on our site soon also. EVERYONE: If you liked this map we will be releasing another one very soon.
Just to start, your overview shot isn't working for me. The rest of the shots reveal a greatly sculpted interior. For gameplay reasons, I'm curious to see where the ladder, teleporter, and aerial entrances are located in the ship. Putting them all in one place would make it quite easy for the defenders to hold the enemy off. Also, how have you set up your spawning grids?
Look at this map in forge and you will see everything that you just asked. We cant put the entire map on here. Check it out!
I don't know why the overveiw shot is acting screwy for everyone. Sorry about that. Anyway, the teleporter takes you to a man cannon next to the ship, which you can take up to the ladder. This leads to an entrance on top of the ship, going into the bridge, or you can jump down and enter the vehicle bay. If taking a banshee, you have the same two options. The only problems we encoundered was in an assault game, people parked a Warthog in the engine room and the attackers couldn't get in. This, however, just gave us a chance to formulate an attack, and wipe them out with stickies, Fuel-Rod Guns, and our only Sword. We figured people would camp in the engine room on assault gametypes, so we filled it with Power Cores. A single grenade lobbed in the right spot takes out the whole room.
I don't mind negative criticism, but I'd like to know what you dislike about it, or at least, what's stopping it from getting a 4/5 or 5/5
