Argile By: PAINTS 420 "...what started out as a routine military operation, suddenly turns into disaster and despair..." Argile is a linear infection map for designed for the Hub of the Dead III Contest. It has a simple backstory. You and your squad were abandoned by your superiors during a military op when the outbreak happened. They were left with next to nothing. The scorpion tank they were given is damaged and it's main cannon is disabled. Each soldier is equipped with only an assault rifle and a frag grenade. Survivors start trapped in the gloomy urban streets of Argile City and must make their way to the safehouse just a few blocks ahead. The first phase is guarding the tank, the second phase is running to the safe house. Keep moving, and watch each other's backs; or the epidemic will surely swallow your soul. I am still working on a few key mechanics for the safehouse to work properly. I need a door that closes after three minutes, and something that kills everyone who doesn't make it into the safehouse on time. The problem is three minute spawn time actually works out to ten seconds left in the game. I want people to die at the end of the game, not with ten seconds remaining. I'll be testing the map and working on these mechanics, so whoever can help me I would greatly appreciate that. Thanks.
I liked this when you showed me the other day man. The tank idea is very interesting, much better than giving them a full tank. In this case players will be more focussed on actually defending the tank for the bonuses it gives, making leaving the zone to grab weapons a real risk vs. reward. The theme isn't too bad as well, though urban linear's are becoming fairly common.
Something that kills everything? I suggest a kill zone, that spawns after... lets say...3 minutes. I'm not exactly sure you can do that, but I think you can. You also need a door that closes? Then set like a wall of some sort that spawns after 3 minutes.
@caughtsword the max spawn time possible is 180s. @paints I was reading the Odyssey about thirty minutes ago and read Argive on accident... I think I've heard of a way to spawn things after three minutes.. let me think for a bit. EDIT: It's Five Levels of Terror. Each level's a minute, so the fifth level teleporter must spawn four minutes into the game. I guess Oakley would know how to do it. Ask him?

I could get a hold of Oakley if I really wanted to, trust me. But I think it could still be possible without a modded gametype. All you would have to do is put a crate blocking the last teleporter (the one that kills everyone) then have a few fusion coils spawn in at three minutes to unblock the teleporter. You would have to make a ten second delay on the explosion though, or else this would happen with ten seconds left. Use gravity lifts that push the coils through the air for about ten seconds before knocking the crate away. Probably not gunna try it though. Again, I don't think it's necessary. Lol at figuring out the answer to my own question.
