Hello dear Hubbers. Some of you might've been following the Map Sketch thread and seen the drawings I've posted there, and now I'm proud to present a sneak peek at the final product! (If you haven't seen them, then hopefully I'll catch your attention) Most of the layout is pretty damn close to what I sketched, but obviously some alterations had to be made due to the limitations of FW/the object palette. Fair warning though, Duck and I literally forged this last night and much of what you see might not necessarily be final. (big images incoming)
So this is what you and Duck we're working on for so long. How big is the map? Looks like 5v5? I have no idea though. Stoked on the release though.
Oh, yeah Nice to see it up and forged. It looks better than I imagined it from the sketch. That last picture looks.. as picturesque as Halo can get Those rocks look great, unlike most rocks in wall coliseums. I'm guessing you built this by the Quarry (Or whatever Asylum is called)? Also, if you wouldn't mind, put up an overview + picture of that atrium with the rockets? Or have you shown it already? I don't know, there are no labels...
Mock Hot Flippin Damn. This map looks beautiful, I love the feel you've pulled off here. I can't quite tell the layout from the pics but I'll be in forge tonight to see for sure. I really can't wait to play this one.
Well if you're curious about the layout you should probably check out the sketches As far as size goes, it's looking like 5v5 up through 8v8 will all work, with 5v5 being rather sparse and 8v8 being pretty chaotic. @Spin: yeah, the quarry. Thanks, Duck's responsible for those rock garden things. Mad props to him. Might also be interesting to see what happens when you drive a Hawg off the rocks, too... hmmm. Here's the overview pics everyone is asking for. I took off all the pretty ceiling bits, so don't worry if things look kinda ugly. Images also aren't as massive this time.

Yo! I've gotten the map up to a testable state now, and I also re-did the center atrium to be a lot less dumb. Pics ahoy!
I like the new, more closed feel to the center, but I dislike the texture choices. I feel like there are just too many.. the 4x4 blocks, the corner 4x4,s the platform larges, 2x2 ramps, and wall coliseums, all used as floor in close proximity. Maybe swap out some of the pieces? I don't know what your budget is like...
It's not really a budget issue, it's more of a "physically fitting everything together in one place" issue. I'd rather sacrifice textures for geometry than the other way around. That being said, about the only piece I could swap out without a lot of headache is the coliseum wall floor. I'll have to check the status of my bridges to see if I can do anything about it.
All right. I'm not used to the aesthetics of BTB maps.. I'm having a really damn tough time making ten thousand budget work for 4v4...
This is the kind of thing that makes us cry ourselves to sleep at night. I kind of agree in the center atrium, but it's not always possible to do.
The funny thing is that I've only used $6,615 out of $10,000. Perhaps I can join you in forge sometime and show you how it's done
