Since I get into College tomorrow, I thought I might get one more map together. So this may be my last map for a while depending on how college runs. This new map is called Consquence, and is proberly, the best map I've made so far. So let me know what I can do with it. So far, it can only do Slayer matches, but when I have the time I will add the other modes to the map. Now for the screenies: Here is the overview of the map: Consquence is features a walkway one the side of the map, which is where the two teams spawn, they can choose to make their way to the centre of the walkway or descend to the lower level and fight in that area. Here is part of the Walkway, where the Red Team Spawns. There are pillars, allowing both teams some cover as the make their way towards the middle, there is also cover on the edge of the walkway, with a MG near one of these pieces of cover. This is the centre of the walkway: The major item here is the Focus Rifle. There is a ramp here too down to the lower level. This is a view down the ramp towards the lower level: Here is just after the ramp, home to 2 NRs and one Granade Launcher: This is on the other side of the map, with a sniper rifle on top of the platform. And finally the centre of the pillars, with on final GL and two Magnums. There are: DMRs ARs NRs Repeaters MGs (60 seconds) Sniper Rifle (70 seconds, 0 spare clips) Focus Rifle (70 seconds) GLs (70 seconds, 1 spare clip) Needlers (40 seconds) Magnums (20 seconds, 3 spare clips) As always, Let me know how the map seems like through the screenies, and ask me if you want the download link to Consquence, either through this thread or through vistior messages, though note only Slayer modes will be playable. If I can get the time I will see if I can get more features on the map and improve it, but this could be the last time I put on a map, or have the time to use Forge depending on how College goes. So let me know on how good the map is.
Is there anything under the red and blue spawns? Or is it blocked off? Also I noticed the Sniper is right behind the GL. Players could pick up both, easily. EDIT: Wait a second, there are 2 GLs and a sniper practicly beside each other. Also there are just too many weapons in that area. Maybe reduce it to 3.
I would like the download link, since I can't glean very much from the pictures. It does look like you have too many weapons on the map. And besides, you should probably write down how many of each weapon you have (you've only added plurals). You should also think of increasing the spawn times on some of those weapons, though. I can see the needlers and magnums being big problems. What are the settings on the DMRs, ARs, NRs, and Repeaters?
@SpinCycle: I will try and sort out the link for you, I may increase the needler times to 60 and reset the Magnums back to 40 seconds and decrease the clip size. As for the DMRs etc, they are default times and clips. @Drift: There is nothing under the spawns. The thing with sniper rifle, is there is little line of sight where the it is (only the bases are visible, and there are DMRs are the walkway) so you have to get it back to the walkway to use it at best. The GLs are in very enclosed spaces, so you can't fire them of in those spaces instantly without badly hurting yourself. I may be wrong though. I have to agree that a map this size really only needs a few weapons on it. Players usually spawn with a Mag, AR, or DMR, so placement of those are usually for extra ammo only. And on a small map you only need a few weapons for a few players. For power weapons, 1, maybe 2 would be all that would fit, and even then only a grenade launcher and something rather weak. It also seems like a lot of cover is a bit close together. Your decorative covers are often only separated by a gap big enough for 1 spartan to fit through, constricting player movement. The layout looks very simple to me, but I'll leave the specific issues for someone who builds 1 v 1's to explain. Enjoy your time at college, you will be facing Full Life Consequences now.
Thanks FlyingShoe. Just to mention, I intended this map to be 2v2 or 4v4 even, so I may get rid of o e of the GLs and a piece of cover near the centre, as that's where most of the mess is . But if it's 1v1, thanks for the heads up.
Just like the other people said, this needs more weapons But it looks really really good. I will check this out on my xbox too ,to give better feedback, but ill do that tommorow. It looks good for slayer 2v2 and 4v4, also an question, since college is starting (i have it too) Will this be your last map in Halo : Reach?
I disagree with more weapons. I personally think there are too many, especially around that middle area. I may be wrong.
Spawns need fixing again. Team designated spawns force players to spawn in certain locations which can lead to some spawn killing. I can download,try to play it today, and come back with feedback, but I won't make any promises. If the spawns aren't fixed in the version in your fileshare, I'll just do that myself.
If you can cross the map in under twice the time it take for an enemy to spawn, you need dynamic spawns. That and there shouldn't be one power weapon per player. Whoever is saying this needs more weapons is either stupid or trolling.
It will depend at what the college throws at me really, but I will see what I can cram in. As for weapons, I will get rid of the sniper and one of the GLs, I will get rid one of the central pieces of cover too and revise some of the weapon types tormmorow if I have the time, it will be the first day so hopefully they won't drop a truckload of work on me in the first five minutes . Sorry and the spawns too.
Well.. i was not, actually not more weapons but more balanced. I said would take a look on the map, but didnt had the time for that yet.
I updated the map, theres not that many changes map wise, but here's the update on V0.2: One GL and the SR have been removed. The FR has been moved to the old sniper spawn, and the the last GL has been placed at the bottom of the centre ramp. ARs had been placed at the centre walkway (and a NR I think, sorry if I'm wrong my memory is sometimes really **** (apolgies if the swear was against the rules)) NR placed in between columns (I think) Needlers spawn times increased to 50 Mags spawn times increased to 35 and spare clips reduced to 2. One of the centre pieces of cover had been removed. Added more spawns for the two teams to make it harder to spawn kill. Test the map If you can, I will get some screenshots together later. It's the same link to the Fileshare, you may need to refresh the page to get the updated map.
Quite the good updates, since i havent looked YET i will tommorow, school, is giving me twenty buckets of homework for today so I hope someone can check out my preview this much too
