Well, it's been a while. I can't say I'm really interested in pouring loads of time into making my preview thread really nice anymore, as no one's really gonna care too much anyways. So, here is my latest project, which will also be my last big one until Halo 4. This is an asymmetrical 4-hog BTB map for 12-16 players. The map is set in an urban theme centered around a waterway. I really wanted to have a skyline in this map, with buildings towering over you to really make you feel like you're in a city. I also wanted to have a lot of dynamic jumps and such involving the waterway through the map. There are several of these which you'll see in the screenshots, and which I may detail later. The map is best for BTB slayer, one-flag, and asym territories. The map was originally called "Syrup", and will have a more normal name once it gets closer to completion.
You're a bastard. This looks so amazing, Duck. Why haven't you showed this to me? D: Is it really as massive as it looks? Annnd, I love those boats in the water way. I'm all over the place with this comment, but yeah. Outstanding so far. I WANT TO PLAY.
The first picture reminds me of the command centre from the original Power Rangers Looks good though. Interesting choice of name too.
May I ask, is it possible to walk in the water? I really doubt it, but those crates give me the impression that the water is shallow... Also, I dislike the random 4x4 talls used as flooring. They look kinda ugly.
Come into the light my child. Shrug off your small map past and embrace the Big Team. This has been a pretty beastly map to play Duck. It's rare we get BTB as good as this. I might not always love the flatness of the riverside areas, but you've done a lot to improve that with the buildings and this is one hell of a map to go hogging on! We shall continue to make awesome stuff like this in H4, but for now let's go Mong-hogging.
The version that I played a while ago was extremely open and if you were without a vehicle you were screwed. Of course you said it was a very early build so I don't doubt you'll alleviate that issue. The boats in the center were the coolest part of this map. Good luck with the rest.
I really like the look of the map it seems really interesting and the map from the pictures seems to have a consistent theme and atmosphere. The boats in general seem very interesting for game-play. Would love to help test the map sometime.
That was prior to a pretty big group of changes I made to the map. The problem was that areas of the map were all to open to each other, now the map is more segmented. This combined with some other changes to sightlines, and tweaking of the power weapons' and vehicles' respawn times has drastically improved the balance of the map. Glad you liked the boats, I think they really aid the theme of the map while being integral to gameplay so I'm happy with them as well. Sora, I'll try to get you in on some tests, I still need to play rustic too! And yes Fang, a real name... Perhaps "Riverside" would be appropriate.
Looks really swell. I am liking how you converted one bridge into a jump by making it like a opening bridge for the boats! One question. Is it possible to get on the boats?(are there kill zones) Seeing your maps always makes me want to forge btb but I can never do it because I think"what's the point I can never get a full lobby anyway..." Anyways nicely done, can I get an invite to testing? A few name suggestions: Conduit Bottleneck Aqueduct
If you're looking for some name ideas, how about: Marina (since it's kind of a port/pier style with the boats) Freight (I pictured the boats unloading cargo and for some reason that name popped into my head) Rochelle (Like La Rochelle in France, a lot of similarities in terms of water separating areas, bit of a stretch )
Well thank you sir, but you seem to have missed something; the map itself clearly IS a giant dumpster!
@psycho It's all right - we all have our own preferences. I get ocd over random glass in otherwise solid pieces Couldn't stop myself from commenting. As for inviting THFE subscribers into custom lobbies... what the hell.. You guys made 10 silver accounts (1000 friends) and you have at least 40 times that number of subs. Maybe 20-30 at that time. But seriously? I watched the video about five hours after it came out and every damn tag was full. Back on topic: @xzamplez Troll... As for the name, I rather like Pancake Dressing.
Hmmm. Porridge and now Pankcake Dressing... Looks very good and the layout is interesting. I'd be up 4 testing!
First map I've seen in ages that makes me actually want to play BTB. Looks gorgeous Ducky. Bummed you didn't clean up that broken bridge like I wanted though.
Name Suggestion: Pancake Undressing. Looks like there's some really good vehicle pathing on this, but I've yet to download.
Yeah what Katanga said, Marina and Freight sound good. I still play BTB, but dont like it because of how the other team gets all the vehicles and kills our team.
