Request from HaloCommunity... came out OK except for the sharpening, I don't know if it would look better unsharpened. You guys be the critics.
I like it, comic like stocks look very difficult to work with, but this still looks great. However, I think the arrows should go in the direction of the lines below the text to better compliment the flow. The colors seem to be everywhere as well. Note, this is coming from an inexperienced fellow
Every comment is appreciated no matter the experience... I tried incorporating it into the direction of the text/slap but it proved difficult. And the colors are already wild and cartoonish so I said why not?
The arrows make no sense. He hit the right side of Robin's face, he's not "about to hit" the left side of Robin's face. So the arrows showing the direction Robin's head is moving are not going in the right direction.
I agree with sarge, I would just take them out and add three dashes on the opposite side. Actually scratch that, I just don't think the 'piece' really works at all. I think you've done quality work, but you've forced the piece. The biggest thing I noticed besides the color scheme is the arrows, you've forced my eye movement instead of the natural occuring 'flow' of batman's slap. I don't know where your inspiration came from, but it feels to me that you thought of the red and green arrows first and looked for a stock and tried to make them fit. That said, Batman doesn't work at all with your scheme. If you want to do batman, I would use gray, dark gray, and purple tones. Instead of arrows, either use hatching or cross hatching to show direction. I wouldn't really advise the cross-hatching so match as using pointlism, as it really goes well with any comic book piece. I like the filters, but if you had a background with large concentrated purple dots fading out into smaller dos into a gray background, I think it will make your signature 'pop' a lot more which is within the spirit of comics. The last important detail to add is yellow. That swoosh line that follows batmans arm as he b-slaps robin should be yellow and then have some yellow distress lines in a few spots around robins head as a particle effect. To summarize, change color scheme, change background, dont force flow, make it "pop".
