Pendant Alright, so here is a 1v1 map I just recently finished. Now, I tried to push out of my comfort zone a bit an I went with a design with some angles, along with some good verticality. I also tried to focus on some medium-long lines of sight for some of those who enjoy it. There is some CQC, mind you. The layout and weapons might need to be tweaked, but I'm still working on that. A few things to keep in mind before you crucify me: I threw down spawns and for some odd reason weapons don't drop spawn for me. I can't get around to testing and tweaking the spawns and weapons, so any help testing them, as well as the map, would be appreciated. Download Pendant The updated version now excludes the purple FX. I can't say much about this map,(considering that the pics show only a single room) but from what I see, it looks pretty good. Very bold of you to place in that teleporter and I imagine making a dash for the powerup and straight back for the teleporter to make my escape. I also think those angles you were hoping to get looked pretty nice.
Forging: Looks Neat. Design: Looks FANTASTIC Pushing out of comfort zone: a good idea The aesthetic theme reminds me alot of Zen by Nexn. The 2x2 banks probably helped out a bunch on the scaling
I can definitely see the inspiration from Zen here. However, the design looks worlds different and a little more versatile than the former. I'd definitely like to check it out at some point Mr. Ball :]
Dat weapon layout. This looks beautiful. I love the CPU spawn and the aesthetics are very clean and consistent. The OP could use a couple more screenshots

Really can't tell much because you only show one room but from what I see it looks like a clean pretty map. Oh I'll try give you some names....that I made up :O Maki Chive Brella Shui Xylon Just came up with does of the top of my head.
That atrium looks impressive, Eightball. But I need to see how you went about the connections. @Purple: Really? After how pissed you were that people were comparing Catha to Zen/Lux? You must've forgotten.
Don't forget Anent. Looks nice. I also would like to see what you did with areas around the atrium...
There is something I don't like about this atrium, not entirely sure what though. I would love to see more of this though, it looks good, some of it feels a bit forced though I think. Hard to tell from only images though.

It's nice to see a map from you that truly reflects your ability. You should upload a couple more pics, including an overview so we can understand the layout. It looks like studying those other maps has helped you through your forge block. Which method of creation did you go through?
What do you thnk about removing the bunkers in the first image? It they were gone there wouldn't be a lip preventing players from dropping straight down to the CPU. If you continued with the pattern coming up from the death pit, it would look a little more consistent too. Just because this map has purple fx or has 2x2 banks doesn't mean it was inspired by Zen. Come on guys. Looking forward to this checking this out for myself when you provide a DL.
Well, thank you very much. I'm not entirely sure that the map will live up to expectations, but I swear, I tried really hard to make this one so much different than every other map I've made. By "method of creation", do you mean, how did I go about making the map? It may be a stupid question, but I want to clarify it, so I don't end up giving you unwanted information. I'm talking about how you approached designing the map. Considering that you asked me how I approach designing maps, I'm assuming you drew this down before going into forge. It's good to hear that you have put a lot of effort into the map. I can tell that your proud of it.
Well, in a sense, I drew it in my head. I'm actually working on a map design on paper. Of course, it's going to be a 90 degree map, though. For this one, I went with some good old imagination and I knew what I wanted in the map and how players would move around the map. In the end, I think the map may need some tweaking, but I can't be sure unless I get a game on it. I just hope everything goes according to the way I wanted and planned it to.
