I use turtle beaches x12s and it just isn't satisfying to me, I considered getting the TB x41s, not the 42s cause they need batteries, which I would burn through way too fast. I also heard that there is better brands than turtle beaches, I want to be able to hear footsteps around me and be able to tell if it's in front, right, left or in the back of me. My budget is about $150.. Also, not trying to start any shitstorms
Try looking at Triton or Astro. Astros are going to be have better overall quality out of the two, but most models won't fit within your budget. Then again, I've been using x11's for almost a year now and they work perfectly fine.
I'm not sure about your situation, but I have some decent headphones, is it possible to buy and tape on a mouthpiece/microphone?

I like my Turtle Beach wired DX 12's, I haven't tried any of the Astros or anything like that so this is about as far as I would go with my opinions about a new headset.
