Artifice is a small symmetrical 1v1/2v2 map that im submitting for the smackdown contest. This map hasn't changed much since i first forged it, however i originally made this on Tempest and had to move it to Forge World because of frame rate lag when looking from sniper outward. Overall im satisfied with it and i hope those that play this map enjoy it. As always any constructive criticism is encouraged and welcomed. In terms of spawning the entire field is covered in one neutral "respawn zone." Blue base, red base, and sniper spawn each have their own neutral "weak respawn zone" to encourage spawning in these areas and to make sure that the spawning player(s) are able to spawn in a safe area. It also means that spawns are fairly predictable but i tried to ensure that the spawning player has a fair shot when they return. This version of the map includes the custom powerup. This is mainly for the Smackdown gametype and i may include a second version of the map with a different weapon layout or set. Thanks again for looking at the thread. The design may be a little too simplistic and flat for me but I dig the inspirations from construct and citadel.
I realized that it was heavy on the construct side as i was making it. I feel that it plays pretty well tho and like u mentioned there isnt too much height variation btwn lvls but i like that it encourages a more fair DMR battle. u have to out shoot your opponent under virtually the same circumstances on each side. that for me is wat halo is all about. btw congrats on the FHF for ventricle

I got absolutely destroyed :O Anyway, to the map, I didn't think about it then but I can definitely see a little inspiration from Construct, even though it doesn't play too much like it. It was a nice map though, very competitive feel. It was a perfect size for the Smackdown gametype, but it might be a bit too big for regular 1v1s. Have you tested out any Team Doubles? I bet it works really well with that. On the aesthetics side, it looks just a tad bit bland, but it certainly wasn't bad at all. Looks really aren't too important as long as it plays well. And you're right, the map really does put emphasis on mid to long range DMR combat. (Unfortunately my DMR skills need some work ) Overall I think you have a solid map here, good work Herb!
