This is my first ever release of a map on Forge Hub so let me know what you think. Description Zymotic is a symmetrical 1v1 map I made for the Smackdown contest. It is also compatible with 2v2 Team Slayer. I tried to make a map with incentives to leave high ground in the form of power weapons. I was also going for a fast paced gameplay with a variety of ways to play, but the main one being control of the high ground. Weapon List •1x Grenade Launcher- 180 sec, 1 Spare Clip •1x Sniper- 150 seclace At Start False, 0 Spare Clips •1x Active Camo- 180 sec: Place At Start False •2x Needler- 90 sec, 0 Spare Clips •2x Needle Rifle- 60 sec, 1 Spare Clip •2x Plasma Pistol- 45 sec •2x Plasma Grenade- 30 sec •2x Frag Grenade- 30 sec Pictures Red Base Blue Base Center Lift 1 Lift 1 Let Out To Lift 2 Let Out Red To Center Blue To Center Well that's it. Feedback is appreciated! Thanks!
For the most part, I love the design in the middle - with the two inclines raised to make it look like the brace large pieces are 'pinched' in a way. "I tried to make a map with incentives to leave high ground in the form of power weapons." Having high ground is usually an advantage by itself if there is sufficient cover. I think placing a power weapon up there would create a big disadvantage for the other player - but I'm sure you've tested the map, and that is for the most part at your discretion whether it is balanced or not. I can see you have some cool ideas - but I would suggest adding a little more aesthetics in some areas if you have any more budget. Otherwise I think I enjoy the map. ^.^
I'm not sure if you think I have a power weapon on the top level, but I can assure you that the only weapons on the top are 2 frag grenades. As for the aesthetics, what areas do you think should have more? And my current budget is around 2000
This overall looks good but the tin cups on the rocks in my opinions seem rushed, sloppy and in general an eye sore. If you were trying to make a path to jump across go with the theme you have in the middle of the map.it might be cheaper and it could look better.
Ugh, I won't be able to write the feedback for this in the TG. I suppose I'll just edit it in here later if you don't mind. Like I said in the preview, I love the mushrooms. Although they weren't used often in game, they were a treat to look at and a unique aesthetic touch. However, there was a ton of camping on the center ring (XL007 and I :3). I'll go into further detail with that later.
Oh, then never mind about the top level. As for the aesthetics, In here, the wall coliseums could use some more love. And it's hard to replicate nature in Reach, so you may want to consider using different pieces. May I suggest using struts as replacements? And here looks a little bland, at least for the 5X1 flat pieces that are being used as support for the flipped bridges. And perhaps the bridges would look more appeasing if you had a second set of bridge pieces flipped right side up as a complement to the ones placed upside down - this is more of a matter of opinion though. In general, the middle looks fun, but I fear that players may avoid the bases that are set for the red and blue teams.
@Waterfallninja3- I used the cups and rocks to try to make mushrooms. I couldn't think of any other way to make them and I wanted to include mushrooms as the map's name has to do with fungus @Pulpapple- That is why I put the Sniper and Active Camo in the bases. They are, in my opinion, more powerful than the Grenade Launcher and from the games I've played have pushed players away from the middle at least to get the weapons. Thanks for the aesthetic ideas, I'll see what I can do. @Auburn- That's fine. I had forgotten that I posted this in the Tester's Guild
I like the look of the map. I really think that the middle bridge looks very interesting. The mushrooms are a little sloopy or rushed, but it would be cool if they can change gameplay a little bit. I would like to see the gameplay for your map. I will give it a download, good job!
@FM and the BB- There was an infection map based on a laboratory that had mushrooms in it, and found that I couldn't think of another way to make mushrooms
