    An Octagon Map Pack? And what is it exactly?

    An array of 3 cool maps! More precisely:
    - 2 aesthetic octagon maps called "Luxuriant" and "Rainbow"
    - 1 more technical octagon called "Concept"

    Which criteria did you use for the maps?

    The area of the octagon and the number and position of spawns is exactly the same of the official octagon. Well, officially there's not an official octagon map. But I think that the octagon with over than 4.9k download could be considered official.

    Okay. Now that you know which parameters I have faithfully followed and how an octagon map works, let's start with some pictures and stop asking.

    This map is for everyone who could consider appearance needless for octagon. So I have introduced a new feature that improves the functionality of the map; I am talking of the arrow that you can see in the last picture.

    It's a Spawn-position indicator. Where the arrow indicates, here the rival respawns.

    Hey Doctor kari2ma! It's me, Mario! (lol) How can I use correctly this new awesome (lol) feature?

    Just aim to head of the arrow...

    NOTE: The floor of every octagon consists of a single huge piece of wall or grid. This because many small pieces together can cause the formation of drops and rises that can badly influence the gameplay.

    Instead of the gird in the 2nd map, you should use windows. I think the other two look boring. Too much gray.

    Hmm... I'll just be completely honest here.

    I don't think it would work in any map ever, to have an arrow where the enemy's head will spawn. Especially in a map that is supposed to be for 'warm ups'.. There is no warm up looking at an arrow.

    Secondly, some of your maps I think have alot of glass and not needed pieces, if you have a bunch of people in there, throwing grenades, I don't know how the framerate would be in there, then again, I have not tested this so don't take this too seriously.

    Also, In the Rainbow map, the oddly placed platform XLs (I think that is what they are called) don't look quite right. i don't know if you were going for a ruin-ish type feel or something, but It just seems like you needed something to fill in the space and you decided to throw around a few of those platforms.

    No windows...they make rises and drops. And for the gray...yeah I know. But have you ever seen a map in forgeword not gray? Anyways thanks for your comment! =)

    No framerate. I have tested it. And do not forget that these maps are only for 2 players max.

    From pics, you can not see well, but if you play on rainbow you can notice that there's a logical disposition of the oddly placed platforms. As you said i were going for a ruin-ish type feel.

    Finally about the arrow. Don't forget that octagon slayer gametype include instant respawn. And spawn kills are the secret for the win.

    I don't like the last one too much. But the colored one looks cool. It would be awesome if you made the bottom of the grid ressemble the top so that it acts like a mirror, that's what i thought it was going to be at first.

    I think the second one is the best the others just look like you where running out of ideas and by gray he means using that huge gray wall everywhere I know you have budget left make if more personal

    Yeah! The mirror effect was an idea, but at the least I have decided not to use it. But I'm going to make one with this effect!

    If it for two people why have an arrow where there head will spawn?
    All you have to do Is sit there and shoot when they spawn...that's not fun.thats not cool it's just dumb.

    Unless there are multiple spawn locations?

    Did you watched the video I have posted? My maps work exactly like the one on the video. Only 2 respawn points. Even without arrow you know where rival will respawn.

    Oh sorry I did not watch the vid.my iPod is loading vids really slow ATM so I could not.
    But what you told me is not a reassurance it is just confirming that this is going to be a " get the first kill and sit back and shoot off the spawn" fest( heh long name)

    My suggestion is that you use more than two spawn points. Otherwise, as Ninja said, it's a pointless kill-fest that completely diminishes the fun of the game.
    Also, try some different weapons other than a typical DMR or Sniper - not that the weapons you are currently using are wrong in anyway, but it will be something different than other 1v1 arenas - and will perhaps present a new, and more challenging solution to kill your opponent.

    I do like the rock idea and the tin cup idea. It shows where the head will be when a player spawns, I think that is very cool. The other octagons looked like you ran out of ideas and it looked to dull and gray.

    Ok.a little bit OT here but I have seen you post the same thing as others many times here.others have noticed it before and you have even been asked to stop.
    But the phrase "it looks like you ran out of ideas"
    Was used before in this thread.
    While it is not usually something to be annoyed about you have done this several times.
    To be honest it is starting to get annoying.

    First map is the best one IMO. If you want that grid to look like glass without using glass just cover up the grid lines with something, make sure you get it as flat as possible though, i wouldn't wanna hit bumps on an octagon map.

    I definitely like the first octagon variant the best. Anyways, I would actually suggest alternating the aesthetics every other wall (keep that aesthetic for the 45 degree walls and come up with another wall for the 90 degree walls, but match them well).

    Just saying that would spice up the aesthetic theme.

    I think Octagon in general is an extremely lazy warm up map that has taken off purely because it has gotten the pros attention. With that being said, you take the already broken element of Octagon: spawn trapping, and magnified it by giving the exact position of the opponents head.

    A lot of yall are complaining about the gametype. These are just maps to go with the gametype. And at what xzamplez said, My guess for why it attracts pros is because it would probably improve reaction time.

    Octagon is fun, fair and square. Though it doesn't require alot of maneuverability or tactics, its good for practicing your aim and reaction time.

    Really? A you going to bump your map just for that pointless post?

    Octagon is supposed to be a warm up map. Warm up maps are supposed to warm you up before you head into competitive matchmaking/customs. A warm up map should consist of a simple layout with characteristics that all competitive maps have: cover and height variation.

    Octagon has neither of those characteristics, therefore it is a poor warm up map. Even worse, the better you or your opponent is, the less it becomes about practicing you aim, and the more it becomes about predicting the respawn.

    Lazy.
