DOWNLOAD KOTOV HERE Kotov is a unique competitive map that ideally holds up to 12 players. Here is a screenshot of the map as a whole: When playing a team game, the red team initially spawns in this base: And the blue team in this base: There is a large walkway that connects the bases, it has a man cannon beside it so it can be reached from the battle ground below: There is a rock archway that covers the entrance of the path to the kill ball. The sword is on top of this: Here is a screenshot of this path: At the end of this path there is a teleporter (with the rocket launcher behind it) that takes you to the large walkway. A more secretive area of this map is a bunker round the side of the blue base: To make it fair, there is a secretive kind of area beside the red base as well, but I don't have a screenshot of it. Kotov was the first map I made. It was originally uploaded to my file share about a year and a half ago, and has since had 286 downloads. But I have made changes to it so I decided to re-upload it. Changes include: Moving the sniper rifles to a better location to avoid camping Moving the rocket launcher to a better location Minor structural changes A video of the original version of this map was uploaded to youtube, and has had roughly 9,300 views. Here it is: Halo Reach Forge World Map: Kotov - YouTube I would appreciate feedback, but please try it out in a game before judging it. Thanks for reading, please download and share DOWNLOAD KOTOV HERE
This looks way way too "platformy". In other words so many bridges, walkways and stairs. Object placement is very lazy. It looks ugly because of all the platforms. i.e Walkway large. I'll download and see how it plays, but I can see problems already.
Looks like someone tried to reforge Uncaged blindfolded. Essentially all you did was take all the premade buildings and such and put them together in a way that doesn't really make sense for map flow. I'm not a good forger, but if someone could make this, then I sure can make a map.
I'd appreciate what you've said more if you'd actually tried it out first. The insides of the bases are creative and fairly unique.
This map is just someone randomly putting buildings and walkways together. There are no aesthetics and the weapon placement is also random, especially the sword.
You have asked people to play your map before criticising but I really don't see the point. As Shik said, it is a buch of randomly put together buildings that show no map flow. You say that aesthetic is a matter of opinion but does this even look nice to you? Also, if you have had games with other people on this map I wouldn't mind seeing them. Furthermore, the power weapons are all in easily campable locations. Finally, if you can't take constructive criticism positively, then you will never be able to better your map. I say that I can't see the point in playing because the majority of the issues this map has can be seen from any screenshot.
I just don't understand why everyone on here dislikes my maps so much. When I play them with people online they all seem quite positive about it. The reason I get defensive is I feel some of the comments are said in quite a mean way. It might be rubbish to you, but I have tried to put a lot of effort into it, so it would be nice to not to be torn apart.
You posted a map here for an opinion, and you were given several, as well as many ways you could have improved your maps. in my personal opinion, your structures are too chaotic, and you use to many prefab (building) pieces, this causes your maps to look cluttered and unorganized. Also because of this, gameplay is unpredictable, and unbalanced. It takes a lot to make a decent map, so be gracious in understanding that yours needs more work.
this map has a great deal of flaws. i understand man. it hurts when people post negative opinions about someothing you worked hard on. but the means does not justify the end, if you spent weeks working on it, maybe you should spend months. the floating platforms makes it look ilogical. and once your standing in it its chaotic, i couldnt imagin trying to shoot through all of those peices. the layout is very confusing. and seems very random... its like the peices are there for the sake of being there and nothing else. there doesnt seem to be a flow that makes any sense to me. the worst part to me, and i think to everyone else is nothing looks like it should work. by that i mean. peices are in the air, but dont have any support, we as humans look for logic. so when we see a building floating attached to something that could no more support its own weight let alone the wieght of a giant building or platform, we reject it, its all mental. and quite frankly the way the peices are used in this map is terrible, i hate to bash you, and your map, but this map i far too cluttered, i hate these platform maps to begin with, and this one is one of the worst ive seen, please dont think im saying this to be cruel, and do not get discouraged, keep trying, learn from what people are saying, and look at other people maps, play through ome of your favorite maps, and look at places that you like. or the places were combat seems to focus, and use peices in unique ways. a platform doesnt have to be a platform, it can be many many things.
Thank you, this has been really useful I didn't make it clear on the post, but Kotov was the first map I made, followed by Shikari and then Kobrakai. So the fact that people dont like this one as much isn't gonna stop me forging. I'm determined to make a map that wows you all
I am not getting on here to bash you or to give you 'destructive critisism,' but I am in agreence with the previous comments. it looks chaotic and cluttered. We are not trying to discourage you or embarace you. we are trying to give unbias opinions and help you see your maps with a new light. Chances are, that if 9 out of 10 people are telling you the same thing, there is probably some reason for that. I am not saying that this map is terrible, I havent played on it to be sure. but asthetically, it is bad. it does not make sense. the peices seem very random and unnatural. I fail to see any flow, or sense of direction. I am not saying it isnt there, but maybe you just need to take some more time to fine tune it. Look at other maps and see how they guide players to certain areas. perhaps, before you begin to forge a map, draw out a layout on a piece of paper, and go from there. start with a foundation in forge and work your way up. be precise. and be very intentional. Each piece you use must have a purpose. whether it be for asthetics, flow, direction, sightlines, power, defence... every piece must be deliberate and serve a specific purpose.
I'm a great example of this. My maps Isolation,Aerodrome,Sapphire all weren't good. But I stuck forging and my map Section 03 is looking positive and my 1v1 map is nearly finshed. You'll get there. Just learn from your mistakes. And don't make the same mistake again...
