Genesis is a small map built for a gametype I made called Transcendence that is based off of SWAT. I'm away from my Xbox so I do not have Screenshots. However, I do have two videos from my Youtube channel. Suggestions are welcome! Capture Card Test - YouTube Sorry for my lacking skills with the DMR! Thanks!
This looks great, I love the isolated vibe it gives off. However, what currently bugs me is the little pocket in the back left corner of the map that players were camping in. I'm sure you could fill that in with a rock or something. Also, I think you should find a more suitable weapon for the center. A sniper rifle perhaps? You're not so great with a dmr, man
I'm a little better than I used to be at SWAT now.I've been practicing a lot. This video is from a month ago. I'll see what I can do about that camping spot. The sniper is a good idea. I hadn't thought about changing the sword to a different weapon. I usually avoid the center of the map because its wide open (in order to have the risk of getting the power weapon vs the reward it brings.) Thanks for the feedback!
Well, you want the center to be risky, but not to the point where players are unwilling to travel there. In terms of risk, I think that area is just right. However, the sword just doesn't seem like a weapon I would want to risk going for, especially with chance of being one-shotted. I'd like to play on this, so if you're around and want to play with somebody, i'm game. GT: basketskate3
That makes sense. The sword was intended for use in the cave. However in SWAT, a person with good aim could easily kill you before you lunge. I'm not going to get home for a week, but I'll work on this map when I get back. The risk of getting shot in SWAT is evident in the last few seconds of the video. I still can't believe that 9 year old got a headshot on me while I was using evade.
Looks like a neat map you have got here, I've been thinking of trying something like this on the island around the cave area. I'm glad to see youve made some good use out of the Gulch's more natural areas it gives me a little more of a urge to attempt something more unique such as this. Is the gameplan to always play games on the maps using the one gametype you have created or are you going to expand it to play the more classic gametypes as well?
Probably just Transcendence. I have another map I'm building called Skirmish Creek on Ridgeline that is ready for testing that also uses Transcendence. As far as Genesis is concerned, I may add Headhunter and Oddball at some point. I'm glad you noticed the unique terrain. That was the whole point of this map.
I love anytime someone attempts something on natural terrain and is able to get it to the point there happy with it and are ready to show it to the community. I however am extremely lazy when it comes to my natural terrain concepts, I'm a perfectionist and I usually get aggravated if something doesnt come out exactly as I pictured it in my mind. Im always happy to see someone break out of the normal design styles and try something a little more difficult. I'm a huge BTB fan so I have come to enjoy seeing natural terrain being used, but it seems every forged BTB map in matchmaking is symmetrical and even attempts to make rocks and such symmetrical and its depressing especially when you have so much to work with to make a design more unique. I could see this map working well for headhunter and possibly territories if the design was tweaked some to support it as a very competitive gametype. I agree somewhat that the sword should possibly be replaced in Transcendence, and used in Head Hunter or another gametype where you have shields. I would love to see how the Grenade Launcher would fair on this map, it seems like it could be quite useless especially around the cave areas.
