Anyone here on ForgeHub play Civilization? I own III and IV hard copy and V on Steam, with all DLC on both IV and V (Yay Steam sales!). Although I've never played online...only Hot Seat and LAN multiplayer, occasionally with mods. But anyway, I was wondering if anyone here played Civ, was curious about Civ, or had thoughts on the Expansion. Civ V on Steam Personally, I like the expansion so far. It's nice to have Religion and Espionage back. I also like the changes to Religion in that it now means something more than some potential happiness bonuses and other smaller things. I've also really enjoyed how Civ V changed combat so that it wasn't just giant stacks of Modern Armor with Artillery and Air support in late game, which got old fast in my opinion. I miss some aspects of Civ V, but a good amount of them were addressed in Gods and Kings. So yeah, anyone else here have Civ experience? I really couldn't find any good threads here on it.
I own Civ 4 and have put several hours in, and I have played 3 once or twice. My previous computer could not even run 5, but now that I can, I may try it out once I can get it cheaply with all the expansions.
I own Civ V, but I haven't actually played it yet. I bought it back when it was on Sale during the winter.
Hopefully those summer sales kick in soon. Personally, I picked it back up again when the expansion was on sale as a pre-order and I've been having a good time with it since.
As a fan of 4, I've been wary of the changes made to 5. Would you say it's still worth it, or am I better off sticking to 4?
Which parts of 4 did you like/dislike? Personally, I loved everything Civ IV except for combat, which was greatly improved, in that it is more strategic and focused with far less units and more attention to using each one wisely. However, feelings on the streamlining of every core aspect of the game varies person to person from what I hear.
