Renegade has gone through a complete overhaul so isn't so much as an update but more of a rebuild from the ground up. Map Name:Renegade Last Updated: 25/06/12 Status: Still testing. Screenshots: As you can tell A LOT has changed. The major changes here are: - Banshee's removed - Laser replaced with Rockets - Bases moved forward to speed up gameplay. - Easier to walk up the front of the base. - Falcon platform easier to walk up from the back. - Less objects to improve framerate (still testing, - Receiver nodes relocated to bring each team out at their respective caves and not on top of each other. Middle Portion: These changes are mostly to try and make the gulch more balanced for each team. - Blue team receives more protection on their Ridge to mirror the Red side ridge cave. - To attempt to balance out the cave which is closer to one side than the other an artificial cave has been constructed to again mirror this. - An artificial hill has also been created which acts as cover, a slight height advantage that also allows vehicles to drive over easily. - Overall middle is less dominant and easier to transverse. Power Weapons: - Sniper - 8 shots @ 180sec at each base - Pro Pipe - 4 shots @ 150sec at each teams turret - Rockets - 4 shots @ 180sec directly in mid Vehicles: Yes - Falcon @ 180 (May be reduced) - Warthogs @ 90 - Revenant @ 150 Relatively minor changes have been made to Trident in comparison to Renegade. Map Name:Trident Last Updated:25/06/12 Status: Still testing Screenshots: These changes really involve the removal of the dead space under the Bridge which was never used. There's also a bit more cover on the bridge with the help of the ramp that helps to restrict sightlines a little without impeding warthog movement. Also placed active camo to give more incentive to control this area. Though might have to be switched as it's not the matchmaking norm :/ These changes involve a new way into the base so it's less campy and moving the sniper outside by the turret also helps regarding this. Also it means there's no more base to base sniping at the start of the game. Weapons: No changes worth noting. Vehicles: No changes worth noting. Power Ups - Invis @ 120
Can't say I've played any games on "Renegade" but "Trident" has put some great moments of gameplay in my memory. It's a BTB map that involved strategic map control. There are obvious power positions that I think would make even new players open to the map as well. Your placement of weapons and powerups invite a routine opening strat. Whether your rushing for highground or camo, there's always a direction and purpose to the movement, which I like. Well done sir.
I remember enjoying and having a good amount of fun on Trident (wait a minute, is that the one with the lifts being the only way up to the top floor of each base or was that a different one?), but boy was Renegade poo-poo. I'm glad you got rid of those awkward underneath areas on Trident- the new area is much cleaner and looks like it'll play better. Too bad the camo will likely be removed- I really miss power ups. I hope the complete overhaul you speak of is enough to overcome the not-so-great layout the map had in the first place. The bases look kinda sporadic and the middle area is much improved, but still not that impressive of a play-space. At least it's not a bunch of catwalks this time.
Can't say I was a big fan of Renegade (having some games), but I like the looks of the changes. As for trident, maybe replacing the camo with the rockets (take the one from the rocks and replace it with some stickies) COULD be good for gameplay (as well as MM of course),
Agreed. Such a balanced and various map. I really like playing on that map, especially when using mah sniper to take down some faces. This is a cool commentary on the map, by Nak3d Eli, on an MLG BTB match he played (check out his channel to learn more, he's got awesome other stuff as well): â–º Halo: Reach - BTB Trident vs Blackscreen w/ Live Commentary - YouTube
