    The Abandoned Mill
    By Mr Pokephile

The Abandoned Mill was an on-going project with a bit of a background story. Originally I built the same map nearly a year ago and was not happy with the results. After waiting sometime I decided to attempt to re-build it in a cleaner fashion and this current version is the result of that. Needless to say, I'm completely happy with it.

Now, one thing to consider while looking at this map, is the fact that it is build completely off of a real life abandoned mill. I went through this abandoned mill and took various videos and pictures to ensure an accurate recreation of it's structure. Unfortunately since the time that I made this current version was several months ago - the pictures have been long since deleted. However - I did make a nifty video that matches everything up, shot by shot so everyone can see.

As for the gameplay of the map, it's a journey style infection map. This means humans are on a fixed path from point A to point B while the zombies will spawn in various places to provide conflict for the humans. There are 3 stops in which the humans must "rest" each is on a 60 second timer forcing the humans to hold out at each stop. The result is some pretty chaotic and fast paced gameplay that will leave you wanting more each time. With this all being said, lets check out the videos and the pictures.

I suggest taking the time to watch this first video with audio because there is a lot of map explanation in it.

This second video was done by The Halo Forge Epidemic, thanks to them for the feature.

Nice job! I've always loved this map, it ensures some really intense, hectic and thrilling gameplay and it's a cool challenge to sneak up on the humans as a zombie. I wish I had such a cool mill near my place. :p
Can't wait to publice my own maps sometime soon.

Yes, good work on this. This is an example of a map where the quality of it's inspiration and theme is more important than how the map actually plays. There really is a story behind it, and that helps make it stand out. Also, poor raccoon...

Yeyyy, good to see maps getting released again D This is a great way to get back on track. I loved playing this during a few BIOC lobbies. The linear style works great with the room based design. I love it.

Seeing how inspiration/theme cannot trump game-play under any circumstances, I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I know you don't mean it as a negative, but if someone said this to me I couldn't help but wonder if they were being back-handed in their compliment by saying that my "theme" tops the game-play.

Regardless, the map looks much different than what you'd expect from an infection map. As much as I hate the game-type, I've gotta hand it to you for creating a map that isn't a bunch of small rooms/corridors with loads of unnecessary aesthetics lining every structure.
