ok, i suggest you people actually play the map before you criticize it so harshly, it is great fun and a unique and well executed idea, and mrod, under the old guilder system, the guilders could place one box and it would get featured, now you have to make a good map.
this map is okay, maybe feature worthy. But is it me or are new maps getting featured too close together
the staff is aiming for more frequent features to allow lesser known members a better chance at getting featured, instead of only the higher ups maps getting featured.
I have to admit that to a certain extent I agree with the idea of featured maps not being as good as they used to be. This one, actually, I really like. I saw it the other day and thought "awesome". But at the same time, some of the more recent maps we've featured haven't been up to par with some of the earliest. I won't mention any names, cause that'd be cruel, not to mention it is technically just a matter of personal taste. But one example is a map featured fairly recently (I guess) that whilst making use of an original concept (and was well executed at that) could have been so much more. I guess that's what I dislike about some of them really: Not that they're not good, because they are, but because some of them have so much unrealised potential that it just bugs me. And once again I've written a semi-enormous wall of text that no-one's actually going to bother reading. *Sigh*
i read, but i don't agree, the old guilder insta-feature meant that completely horrible maps could be featured because of the creator and not because of quality. now that we have no insta feature the staff is spending much more time searching the boards for great maps, they rarely miss one. as for the relatively quick features, it allows for a wider range of maps to be featured, and maps that should be featured will be featured unlike under the old system where they would sit in the staff forums waiting for a decision almost indefinitely. basically, even though it might not seem it, we have taken a step in the right direction. hold on, you've only been here since april! what are you complaining about? this is all you've ever known! oh well [/offtopicness]
You better believe I do, buddy. It’s going to have an armory and everything. When you’re in the armory you’re going to see a rocket launcher, pick it up to reveal a hidden telleporter leading to a second, rocket launcher filled armory. In there you’ll find a telleporter leading to a third armory where rocket launchers rain down upon anyone who enters. A third telleporter is in that room, leading to a fourth armory of currently undetermined design (is it possible to make walls out of rocket launchers?)
[sarcasm] Hey, I haven't played this map yet, and I barely read the map post. In fact, all I did was look at a few of the pictures and make a snap judgment about the quality of this map. And now, since my opinion is more important than anyone else's, I'd like to post my opinions about whether or not this map should be featured. I do not want to post about the map itself. And I certainly don't want to download the map before I comment on its worth. That would be ridiculous. [/sarcasm] Sorry about that. I don't normally post in a map thread until I've at least looked at the map in Forge, but I needed to say that. Anyway, I haven't played this one yet, but it certainly looks interesting. I think the idea is creative and fresh. I can't wait to play it soon.
This map is fun but Flymingo does have a valid point. Not to be rude because this map is fun, but there are some better maps out there than this.
Haha, thank you Furious. I was just gonna post something like that. Pretty funny. People are stupid aren't they? Can't we hand out infractions to people who do that? I so wanta neg rep them all and post the reason as idiocy if I knew it would make any difference. Plus, I'm Loyal now, so I guess I gotta really watch my behavior around here. Oh, and Assa1n, somehow I highly doubt you are as skilled in forge as you think. You could not have made this, otherwise you would have. Stop being jealous. Edit: Oops, now he ^ has edited his post. This comment was directed at his comment that he "could have made this map in 10 minutes." Seems someone's (Furious?) comment got to him and made him rethink his original statement.
This is a 10/10 easily... Very detailed and it just looks perfect ! I made a plane with my mate which i thought was good but this makes it look like crap!
Haha, nah, I've been here since the beginning. I just haven't been a member for long. I remember the original website even! (Vaguely) And I have to agree that the insta-feature wasn't necessarily the way to go. I'm not saying this new method of featuring is worse, just that sometimes I feel the featured items aren't as good as they could be. Ah well, who am I to talk? I haven't even submitted anything yet XD Also, Furious, whilst your comment (the sarcastic one) is probably true to most of the people who posted "I haet it" etc, they are still entitled to their opinion (lacking though it may be in actual thought-process sometimes).
Oh I see! I saw this map before, I thought it was just flying saucer models. I downloaded it, the saucers are great, I don't mean just their look, the way they work! Its a simple idea put to good use!

Of course. I was mostly directing that statement at the people who complain about the frequency of featured maps and the perceived quality of those maps. The staff members can never seem to please everyone, and it always got to me. We're either featuring too many maps, not enough maps, or the wrong maps. When really the focus of this site should be on maps themselves, not our particular process for spotlighting our favorite maps. It was one of the reasons I couldn't continue my duties as a staff member. Anyway, sorry for getting off topic. Again, I can't wait to play this map.
Sigh Better maps as in more competitive foundry maps featuring lots of interlocking and geometry merging that took 400 hours and doesn't even play that great? Substance over style, playing good>looking good.
